The Bodybuilders Thread: Circuit II

Dude I can do 2k in one meal. I think your figures are totally off there. Most people bulk on 3500+

I'm on a strict diet at the moment and I'm eating 500 calories below my maintenance. My maintenance is 2700 and I'm currently on 2200; and it really is not a lot of food.

Being an ectomorph means you'll need to eat even more. I hit a bulking plateau at 92kgs and I was eating upwards of 4000 calories a day.

Check your figures there; something's definitely wrong.

did you work out your own diet or did someone do it for you?

Own diet.

When bulking, it's pretty much a free for all as long as I'm hitting my macros

When cutting, it's a bit more pedantic than that. Everything is weighed and planned meticulously.

So, FINALLY got round to having my shoulder scanned (haven't been able to lift for over a year). Turns out I have a huge calcium deposit in the joint that's causing the impingement. Next step is probably surgery. Not sure how things will be after that, but hopefully the pain will be gone.

Eish, what causes a calcium deposit?

Get well soon mayne

I think it depends on timing. I take mine straight after training, which is the ideal time for my body to use all those simple, fast digesting carbs (Maltodextrin) to replenish lost glycogen and begin the repairing and building of muscle tissue.

I am currently using the Cipla Nutrition one. They had/have the 5kg bucket for I think R300. It does the job, and isn't overly sweet like most mass builders. I battle to eat so much food, so it's an easy way for me to get in an extra meal.

From what I understand those are a waste of time and are loaded with sugar...

Just eat more.
That's exactly it though, I used it prior to fill in calories when I don't have time to cook. I'm outta the house 10 hours at least every day except weekends

Nice, will have a look - never used cipla before, but a pharm company makes me feel comfortable using it. Yeah thats exactly right, I use mine as a meal replacement, I blend it with PB, Milk and other stuff if I have any at hand.
Mass builders are BS
Heh, well I don't expect it to 'build mass' as in the mass is built by some super ingredient they all seem to say they have.
Simply calories in vs calories out (surplus this time around)

That being said, if I had the money I'd obviously rather be eating food I could buy

Those mass builders are cheap low in protein low quality carbs as fillers and really if you have to take it add a scoop over your protein shake. If you want to put on mass you need to eat in caloric surplus and go on a bulking cycle. Mass gainers or builders are really not good and marketing overpromising and failing to deliver. Thats one supplement i never have and never will take. Rather get some dextrose or waxy maize supps for more carbs.

I am bulking atm but picking up a little more than I want around my waist and I look 3 months pregnant after meals. At first not so much an issue first thing in the morning but now I can def see a belly in the morning too. I've picked up well in all muscle groups but the tummy is an issue now. I've cut down from 3 rice cakes for mid morning snack to 2 and 2 slices of brown bread with tuna and mayo to 1 slice and I am playing a bit of touch rugby on Monday's now - the only other cardio I do is 5min warm ups before exercise.
