The Bodybuilders Thread: Circuit II

Hi everyone!
Restarted home gym, into my 3rd month.
Using sportsmans small bars and plates, I think they are 30mm holes.

Cannot find any stock of more plates, looking at 10 or 15kg ones, very frustrating haha!

Also, looking for a reasonably priced adjustable incline / flat bench.
I'm (cough) 135kgs and looking to bench up to 100kgs, and the ones I'm seeing on takealot, game, sportsmans don't fill me with confidence.

I'm only 186cm so I think it's obvious why I'm exercising hehe.
Was 130kgs two months ago so definitely put on muscle (early / easy gains) as I've lost quite a bit of face fat and my waistline is already thinner, so good on that front.

Help would be greatly appreciated
I would definitely just work on. Cutting. Do you have access to a gym? If you do get body fat measured if you more than 15% body fat you cut. Till you at 15 then you can decide what to do next.

Alright boys. Been out of the game for a while. Had 4 heart attacks and needed to take it easy lol. Itching to get back into it again once gyms reopen here.

Will have to throw in a lot more cardio than I ever did before, obviously, and will probably kick it off with 12 weeks of 5x5 or something. But not sure where I want to go from there though. I'm a hardgainer, so know I'll never be YUGE, but that's ok. As long as I've got some function and aesthetics, should be good!

Have you tried doing some of the HiiT classes etc as well?

@The Voice I was also thinking about your post and of suggesting you look at HIIT/MIIT for your cardio in particular. You tend to get more bang for your buck versus steady state cardio and the "High Intensity" is relative and can be tuned to your fitness level.

Please also ease back into your exercise routine and consult your doctor on what is safe given your medical history.

How much do you want to spend?

For plates try

For bench try

I used something I had lying around at home. It's only flat but sturdy. Can do with a recover of the material

Cheers, I looked for plates there but I think the holes are too big for the bar I bought (Sportsmans Warehouse, thin bar).

I think I need to up my budget for benches, was being unrealistic.

Bought Everlast 10kg weights off takealot, the holes are too small. So now I'm looking to drill them a tiny bit out haha.

I have ordered from both companies and both were very professional with fast shipping. Those tri-grip plates from Mifitness are great.
Exactly why I recommend them. The power rack came from the gym shop, one little plastic foot broke as I put it in, the other 3 were solid.

Emailed on a Sunday and even got a response that on the Sunday, that Monday morning they will ship a new one free of charge and no shipping fee.

So even awesome after sales service!

How's that rack? Not flimsy? With all the lockdowns I'm considering getting a setup like this (rack, bar, bench and some 20kgs)
It's good for what I need. I knew the limitations before buying, but I also know I won't do more than 120kg on Squats for example.

While benching and squatting it's fine.

The only time you notice it's for beginners is when I do pull-ups. But it feels fine for me with a weight of 78kg. It's swaying a bit.

I guess if you weigh north of 120kg and do Squats of 200kg+ it won't be enough and you better of looking at the more expensive racks.

Tips for increasing protein intake. Im about 100g a day short. already doing shakes, anything else that wont break the bank?

Thanks, upping the egg intake now, Im not sure if i should warn the wife

Will i lose out on protein if i take out the yolk? Dont want to end up buff but dead

Why take out the best part?

I was wondering whether I should get into body-building. I recently went to see a dietician about my diet, she put me on a pretty awesome meal plan that covers my IBS issues as well. Really, I just want to be fit though and look good. I don't even need to be toned, I just want to be a reasonable weight that makes me happy :) Which to me is around 75-80Kg

You're not going to break the bank by eating the yolk. Depends entirely on how many you eat. Think of it this way... how many eggs will you have to consume to match one 300gm steak? Roughly 6. Eggs are good for you.
Nope, you need 11 or 12 whole eggs to get the same protein as a 300g steak. I count my macros lol.

Bodybuilding, is a specific discipline.
It involves posing on a stage all bronzed up, wearing underpants.
Building muscle, that's a more accurate term for the other 95% of us training at the gym to get strong, healthy and look good.

hahaha luckily not. She still doesnt like the protein shakes though

Really dumb question, Im tracking calories on Myfitnesspal,
When adding chicken breasts for example, do i use uncooked weight or cooked weight?
