Hi All
Why would it be that when I work my biceps, the next day my forearms are way more sore than my actual bicep muscles? I've been using an EZ bar with the inside grip.
Also, when doing dumbell curls, I just cannot seem to get a good pump going and I feel nothing the next day. I've been starting with a natural hand placement (palms facing my hips), lifting the weight and curling it into what I've learnt is called a "supinated" position & squeezing the muscle as well.

Where could I be going wrong here?

Thanks

Because your forearms do a lot of work during curls.

First to keep your grip on the weight.

And second to get the weight up for the first part of the movement... Up to the 90 degree angle. That is when the biceps really start kicking in. So biceps only do majority of the work for the final part of the lift up to the chest. If your form is off you might also be using your back and shoulders to get it up for the final part.

Try doing some concentration curls but do not extend your arm all the way down. I focus on not going past parallel with the floor with them. That will keep tension on your biceps and will force them to do the majority of the work.

With biceps I also find that it is very important to focus on a very slow negative movement. So make sure to focus on slowly lowering the weight to the start position again. Like 3 to 4 seconds.

That'll be sure to give you a rock hard pump and you'll definitely feel it the next day.

Just my 2c. Sure the more experienced guys will give some advice too.

I learn each and every day.

Bend your elbow a little bit and bring your arms further back. I remember Dorian yates saying this in one of his videos, he has dominant forearms so every time the biceps get tired the workload is offset on the forearms. Also as apoc said the negative is a huge part of bicep curls, so don't skip on that.

Anyone got advice for a wrist pain?

Hurts when palm is open and applying pressure (like a push up) but when its a fist I can apply as much pressure as I wanna.
