The main problem with me gaining muscle is that some dudes are hogging the free weights section of the gym for 90% of the time.

But the bigger problem isn't that they are using it ... the problem is that groups of friends are socialising at the benches.

But the biggest problem is that it isn't so easy to just walk up to the guys and politely ask them to hurry up, because they ARE working, but just at a too slow pace.

And besides, you try walking up to a group of three muscle-bound, testosterone jacked up dudes and ask them to hurry up. You'll either get a flat ignore or you'll get your ass kicked.

Ask to work in. I assure you nobody will ignore you or kick your ass, gym bros are usually nice.

The balito virgin active is very dirty for a new gym. Everything smells horrible unlike the ones in Joburg.

Happy with my local VA at Cape Gate.

Equipment is always fixed within 48hours, temperature controlled, good music and weight selection.

Very fortunate. Also friendly staff.

I'm moving over to VA Cape Gate, from VA Constantia.
Good to know...

I just recently purchased the below, and I quite honestly cannot stomach the flavour, which is Choc Mint. I've come from Evox (Vanilla).

If there is anyone in Cape Town area, I'm prepared to let this go for R300. I paid R450 and I have used no more than 5 servings, if that even.

PM me if you are interested

Just in case anyone else finds muscle meal shakes really sweet (like the above), I have found that Evox 5XL muscle meal is NOT SWEET AT ALL, it's freakin awesome. I can take a mass gainer portion size which is 100g, mix it with 350ml cold water and it's freakin delicious.

Wont ever use anything else now.

It's a good laugh standing in the Dischem bro-supplements isle listening to the nutrition advice the staff dish out.

Its a laugh a minute poor noobs get misled into buying rubbish. You can add mass builders to that list.

Hi All
Does anyone have experience using PharmaFreak Ripped Freak Fat Burner?

http://www.chromesa.co.za/shop/pharmafreak-ripped-freak-60-caps.html

Does this have a negative impact on my weight lifting? My concern is that it eats away at muscle as well as fat?

Thoughts?

Thanks

Way too expensive for what it is. Look at the ingredients:

Green tea extract does actually work. But, you can get green tea extract for much cheaper than this.
Coffee bean extract has never been proven to work. Waste of time.
Chilli (Red pepper) I'm not sure about. I think it might upregulate metabolism but I'm not sure. Wouldn't bet money on it, certainly not that much money.

If you want to buy something to help you lose weight, I recommend Incinerate Fat Burner. It is basically something similar to an ECA stack with green tea added. Its also half the price of this.

EDIT: As for muscle, no it won't affect that. Your body does not burn muscle for energy. Muscle is the last energy source for the body, only used if nothing else is available.

As far as I know, muscle is only destroyed if you exercise hard and don't provide fuel for your muscles to grow and repair afterwards. Your muscles are constantly being broken down and built up again. What we want is for the rate of building up to be higher than the rate of breaking down.

I'm itching to buy one of those Fitmark food bags... The Box - LG :whistling:
After taking fat burners for a number of years I have given up on them... The "rebound" is just too much to deal with...
Currently I lift in the AM and Cardio"70-80% of max heart rate for 40min" in the PM, has the same effect for me...

Hi All
Can anyone suggest some tips for proper bench press form.
I am struggling to activate my chest with the bench press, I only really feel it in my arms and shoulders, nothing in the chest. I've tried a wider grip but still nothing.

Any suggestions?

Thanks

You must make sure to tuck in your shoulder blades.

Focus on almost squeezing them together the whole rep.

And make sure to extend your chest out, kinda like taking a big breath in.

And just remember that shoulder and arms are also vital in the exercise so you will feel it.

I don't get the burn from chest exercises like I do with say bicep curls or calf raises. Doesn't mean I'm not hitting it right.

If you are sore within the next 48 hours you surely hit those muscles.

What I'm struggling with is the shoulder blade tuck, they naturally untuck as I raise the bar.

It is something that needs practice to get right.

It helps for me to raise my chest as I lower the bar. Thus forcing to tuck my shoulder blades and then just focusing to keep them there while I complete the rep.

If that still doesn't work for you I suggest dropping the weight until you get it right. Might be that you are trying to lift too much and forcing use of the shoulders. Injury waiting to happen.
