I was kinda joking to be honest.

Are there enough bodybuilders on here for it to be worth it?

Some years ago I read in of these threads that one of the MyBB members had a website relating to bodybuilding or weightlifting.

Is this info still relevant and who is the member and the url please?

It's http://muscletalk.co.za/ and it's run by Thor.

Ahh wow, hey thanks for the mention BROTHER! Much appreciated.

@hectic

Most of the info is definitely still relevant especially the calories articles nutrition and macro nutrient counting and the research on exercises etc

Some articles like last year's event etc will not be relevant anymore, but it is a forum so I can use some additional support.

Side note:

It's free, it's friendly and it's powered by domains.co.za so basically it means there is no brand loyalty from my side so their is no censoring.

P.P.S the above goes without saying, but some folks asked it before so I now just add it anyway. ( regarding censoring )

I really hope lots of the top bodybuilders will come to the Arnold Classic South Africa. It will be good for the Bodybuilding industry, especially aspiring bodybuilders.

Who's looking to attend the Arnolds?

Hey all, 2 questions on my mind

1.) Which grip do you guys use for dealifting? Over-Under vs both overhand. Do you mix it up depending on the weight?
The reason i'm asking is because i have been focusing on the both Overhand grip as i thought it was more correct. But i noticed the other day when hitting my max that the bar easily travels away from the body and rounding of the back is difficult to avoid. One of my mates told me to try the over-under and it fixed the issue... did any of you guys notice this or does my form just suc?

2.) I got bad knees so my squat development is seriously lagging behind everything else. I squat with my feet flat on the ground and focus on pushing through the heels.
Early on i dismissed the "plates under the heels" trick that most guys at my gym use. But it seems to results in less flexion in the knee joint at the bottom of the movement. Should i consider it?
Also i considered knee strap's, but hoping i could get some advice...

what do you guys think?

I use the alternating grip - sometimes both overhand when warming up.

I find the bar travelling away from my body towards the end - but this has more to do with my grip failing than anything else.

Really need to get myself some straps for the higher weight sets.

Start with overhand grip on both hands with warmup on deadlift, as well as the ligher sets. (after all, you still want to work on your grip strength)
As you work up to your heaviest sets, switch to mixed grip, when our grip starts failing, but you can go heavier on the lift.
Also switch the mixed grip around, so as to try and have the muscles still balanced in growth and workout.

^This
I notice when my right hand is the "under" hand i can easily do my mid set's but struggle when it's my left hand..... not fun.

I think i'll use the approach in your post going forward thanks!

Straps for the win! been improving steadily since i introduced them last year. Besides grip strength it also prevents the bar slipping due to sweaty hands. Highly recommended and pretty cheap to get a hold of

I only user overhand with chalk. When it gets heavy I strap up. Alternate does not work for me. I'd love to use the hook grip but my hands are not big enough to get a decent bind around my thumb.

Previously when i got to heavy i used overhand with straps, but i found that it was more difficult to maintain the tight shoulder blades (weight tendency to move forward and off heels) and some rounding followed...

do you not have this issue?

why doesnt alternate work for you?

Also used mixed grip for at least first 3 sets and I also mix them up after each set. If grip is failing by end of 3rd set I use straps for the final 2 sets. Always try to aim for no straps but usually end up with straps for at least 1 set.
