For that price it better be, I suppose most of the stuff is imported which is why costs are so high.
I remember in UK quality protein supplements where affordable.

What brands are made in SA

USN
BioGen
Evox?

well for starters id look at researching supps with a view of using it to bulk up, and besides that this whole thread has alot of useful information that you can use.

I found Optimum Nutrition 100% Gold Whey to be my personal favorite, no gas like with USN, tastes better than any other bought protein ect. They are also highly rated on bodybuilding.com which IMHO has a far greater audience than mybb and even anabolic...co.za can ever dream of having. Not dissing anyone here or on anabolic...just saying. There are good information on both this thread and that website.

Personally I also like Optimum Nutrition's Opti-men multivitamins over anything else you can get in SA (not that this is available in SA legally anymore).

That being said, your diet and program should be fixed properly before worrying about all these extra supplements (which it looks like you have done).

For the past 5 months I have been eating only food (high protein diet at least) with 0 supplements , and I am still seeing gains in strength, although I will admit, my actual body weight stayed the same, my fat reduced and muscle size increased with the strength. I personally wish I recorded everything, would be a very interesting chart, but at least I know I am not better off.

So basically, I want to give a +1 to Optimum Nutrition's 100% gold whey product, well worth it and also available at Dischem as well as a few online websites, however try to not to over indulge into the supplement world.

Have you tried to just increase the volume you eat again and again?

I often struggle to find recipes to prepare, most on websites are with salmon and with ingredients that are only available in Jo'Burg or overseas etc.

Can you guys post some recipes with beef, chicken etc that I can "borrow" ideas from or at least direct me in the right direction?

Hi guys,

For how long can whey protein be stored ?

I bought a 1kg pack in January 2011 of WAR Whey Protein (I think they have closed down. Can't find any info about them), but I didn't like the triple chocolate flavour and I stored it in one of the drawers in my fridge.

Will i still be able to use the powder or would it be better if I throw it away ?

Sorry, but what recipes are you looking for cut or building ?

If you want to cut just eat skinless chicken/ I&J Hake (if your in Gauteng like me) with lots of veggies for dinner.

there seems to be some mixed opinion on this. some say that because of the fat content it will expire, some say the expiry date is only on there as it is required by the FDA

I found a few guys suggesting that whey stored just in the container should be fine after a year and stored in the fridge 2 years.

I know evox whey had a bb date, maybe check of that one does too

Shot, nice prices on there.

I see they have whey isolate and concentrate, which do you recommend?

Was thinking about ordering these:

L - Carnitine 200g L - Carnitine 200g
L- Glutamine 500g L- Glutamine 500g
Whey Isolate Unflavoured 1kg Whey Isolate Unflavoured 1kg

Isolate is the better of the two... and its what I use, but if you dig online you'll find various articles saying there is little benefit.

The glutamine and carnitine in your order is probably two to three months supply.

Just a warning, a lot of people are reporting that bssa (Ondier on mybb) is extremely busy at the moment - so there seems to be a delay in getting orders out - I placed an order yesterday, so lets see. (usually takes a week or two).

If you get the unflavoured - go to dischem and by a small bottle of flavouring, think its Top10 or Pro10 or something like that... so far the Wild Berry is my favourite. (R40) Can't stand chocolate protein powder :p

Placed an order for R1200 of stuff from that site.

go read up DJ's dieting advice on anabolic steroids forum http://www.anabolicsteroids.co.za/forum/10-dieting-contest-preparation

where are your carbs and fats? what is your total intake?

seems like you drink more than you eat :/

You should probably be aiming for around 3100 calories with around 280g-300g from protein. (if you go for 2g/pound)

And eat real food.

where are your carbs and fats? what is your total intake?

Can you add to my "diet" above what you would consume and follow.
Reading DJ's advice now, thanks for link.

A lot of the advice out there is for PRO guys with a couple of hints here and there regarding carbs to avoid etc.
Can be confusing for the average Joe who wants to add some muscle but not compete, for me it's more for health, feeling good and with that look of "he exercises" like I have now but want to improve on by adding some mass and definition.

Do you guys "mass" prepare meals and then freeze to take to work etc?
