I would try the evox 5xl I guess.

Lol I wonder how accurate those heart rate monitors are on stationary bikes.

Some of the heart rate mons are quite good cos they normally polar ones. Some are terrible though and most get interference. You can get the strap from polar then use it with the bike for a better test. Yes I know its probably not important but its true :p

Looking to get something for pre-workout meal replacement?

any ideas, getting tired of eating chicken and tuna mid afternoon.
Is it a good idea?
Need something for after lunch mid afternoon about 1hr before i workout.
I heard some guys take Evox 5XL, there is also Evox Mass?
Downgrade your meal? Apart from the fact that you getting bored of it, not sure why you would do that!

Personally, I haven't gained much weight, BUT from eating just normal meals vs meal replacements, I have gained more strength than I ever dreamed. If it wasn't for this injury, I would probably still be setting new PRs on a weekly basis. I am sure when the time comes, I will gain weight when it is needed.

The physio is helping a bunch, I feel a lot less pain already. So will take it slow on upper-body, but I think I am mostly ready to continue gaining on squats again.

Lol I hate squats :D

Sorry if this has been asked before (I'm not sifting through 178 pages!)

Is there a way to calculate how much protein you should consume each day / after workout? My friend once used some sort of formula involving his mass.

I think the general rule is about 1 gram of protein per pound of your target body weight. For example,if you want to weigh 180 pounds, eat 180 grams of protein a day.

Any tips on grip strength for DLs? My grip is starting to weaken and I'm only on 115kg at the moment.

Chalk and introducing farmers walk with 40kg dumbbells helped me push to 184kg, my back feels like it wants to rip off if I go higher.

Yes, that's the obvious answer. I highly doubt VA is gonna let me smear the mats with chalk though :/

On the topic: Any good place to buy some chalk?

Well the obvious reply would be - don't make a mess with the chalk .... I use a tiny bit on my hands... and its very seldom that you'd notice I've used it when I leave the area. (and I gym at Virgin Active)

Chalk can be bought at any place that sells climbing equipment, I think I got my last lot at Cape Union Mart.

Ah, good to know. I've somehow always thought it's a messy business!

Thanks, will shop around.

Chalk is gonna help. I pushed to 125kg before I started using chalk, and even then I find I might still have to use reverse-grip on my final weight, but working up there I still prefer double overhand-grip.

When you working your way up to your work weight, also try to hold the weight at the top for a few seconds, that is on the sets you do double overhand grip before you switch to reverse grip, also helps me build grip strength. I think I might incorporate the farmers walk with 40kg dumbbells as well, they much heavier than you expect.

Here in Cape Town I tried quite a few places before I ended up at M-Kem and just bought my chalk there.

I regularly get to a bar at VA Tygervalley where someone else used chalk, so I am not sure if they mind, just not sure why the chalk is on the bars where people bench press. That is the last place I have grip problems.

Its the same as people who leave weight plates and dumbbells all over the show... it can be a messy business...depends on the prick involved.

For better grip... so the bar doesn't rotate in your hands.

One of my favorite exercises that and flipping a tractor tyre although that makes a hell of a noise and needs an empty 4 car garage, my wife wants to fill my tractor tire with sand for my son to play in, that and she thinks i'm going to hurt myself!

Some time ago I posed a video from Mehdi (stronglifts) doing squats here, and someone asked for a Deadlift video.

Seems he posted one recently.

Interesting, I never done that heavy that the bar rotate in my hands on bench, in fact it is the one exercise where I feel it is perfectly steady in my hands, it rests right on top of my wrists, so I don't feel any problems with it, and thats even on 92.5kg which is currently my PR for Bench. ( I know, most do a lot heavier than that, but thats pretty damn heavy for me )
