You don't be doing both at the same time... either loss the fat, or build muscle.

Yap what he said, to lose fat, you're going want to eat in a calorie deficit, to gain muscle you're going to have to eat in a calorie surplus, pick one, set a goal and stick with it till the goal is met, then you can switch to cutting/bulking afterwards.

Sure body recomp(building muscle and losing fat at the same time) is possible in some individuals, but the gains/loss comes much slower and you're just going to end up getting frustrated with lack of results.

How long have you been going to the gym?

K,I hear you guys! Here's what I'm thinkin, maybe build some muscle for now and then start cutting in dec/jan. I assume the extra muscle will increase my resting metobolism and make it easier to loos weight???

Question regarding over training.

I'm sore on a regular basis the day after workouts, learnt to live with this, the thing I have discovered though is that after a hard workout say after Chest, the workout the day after will not be up to scratch, I can feel i'm still sore in my chest , when I exercise biceps and triceps which I usually do the day after Chest I find my workout lagging?

Should I rather rest a day in between?
Should I be doing something else than arms after a Chest day?
Should I just suck it up and carry on as best I can?

The pain is dude to tearing of muscle fibres. This is how new bigger stronger muscles are built normally it takes 48 hours to repair the damaged muscles. You can decrease this by giving your body the nutrients it requires to repair this damage. Magnesium and zinc are the trace elements your require. Some people say drinking milk can decrease the duration of this. Though if you really want to avoid this, don't over train and do proper cool down exercises and stretches pre and post workout. A common supplement used is zma. I'm sure more of the more experienced gym goers will provide better supplement facts for you.

Chest (bench) also hits arms... so you're hitting the same muscles twice.

What muscle group would you recommend after a Chest day?

I usually do
Deadlifts (back/legs)
Bench (chest)
Squats (legs)
OHP (shoulders)

basically
Lower body
Upper body
Lower Body
Upper body

I also try and make my heaviest days first, i.e. deads are heavier than squats, so they go first, bench is heavier than overhead press, so it goes first.

My current split is chest&back on Mondays,Legs on theusday, back&traps on Wensday and the shoulders&tries on thursday.

A lot of people recommend you train 3 times a week (Mon, Wed, Fri and not more than 45 minutes per day) to give your muscles to build.
