I dont plan to stop the 50/50 mix of cardio and weights. So i am hoping the cardio still works to keep the fat off.

For the days when I do weights, I want a supplement to help with the muscle growth.

So no BSN Explode and just go with the protein shake on the weights training days?

Well, think logically, if you are not losing any extra fat and you keep the routine the same while eating more to build muscle you will in fact gain more fat... so you should up the cardio and and weight training both... so keep it 50/50 then but instead of 100% now give 120%...

With my current routine i am putting on muscle and getting rid of fat.

Thought i could increase the muscle build rate by using a supplement, but not adding fat.
But if thats not possible then. I may have to stick to my current routine then and not use supplements. My current routine is working, just the muscle build is slow.

Yeh - my legs have always been extremely strong without exercise - my upper half has always been my weak point, specifically chest.

Even on a leg press I shocked the personal trainer in March by pressing more than him - and he's hectic into body building.

Shopping also a bitch, most longs are to tight around my legs when I wear the right waist size - although now I don't have that problem as my waist caught up :p

Thats impressive!

My squats are also fairly good when compared to chest but if i did 160kg+ with proper form, ass to the ground, or parallel, id probably die :(

Thats the only way I squat :D It however sounds much more dramatic than it actually is:)

haha true

Some people just arent able to do it properly though, even with just an empty bar, my gym partner is one of them

Because nobody ever shows them how to do it safely, and secondly how to actually do it with good form. I spent about 15 minutes yesterday at gym with a kid(20/21) showing him how to squat properly. (doing box squats). He caught on very quickly and without too much practice his form went from-OMG your knees are going to explode any second:eek:- to hey I reckon in a week or two those quads will be pumping some extra weight on that bar:D

I do use a belt though - purely because I stuffed up my back about 5 years ago on dead lifts.

I would cut cardio to 20%-30%, can't use cardio and build muscle in the same sentence...

Incorporate an element of cardio into the weight training by resting less between sets, do sets of between 12-15 reps, do super sets, breakdowns, negative reps etc etc etc...

In fact under these circumstances you can scrap cardio altogether.

Diet is 9/10 of the law so no carbs after 6pm and get a decent protein supplement high in protein and low in carbs...

I've tried showing him :(

Will recommend he tries box squats or the smith machine instead next week, maybe he'll feel more comfortable with that

NOOOO.....Smith machine is the devil. Im sure the hospital pays for it to be put in the gym :)

Just do box squats...it forces you to push your hips "back" when "sitting" on the box. As long as he keeps his back nicely arched and tight then he'll be fine. It feels weird at first, but it starts feeling natural again pretty soon:)

I've never in my life seen anyone in any gym I've gone to do box squats. Last year though I saw it on the internetz and seemed to be promising, so I starting doing box squats and got my squat up from 120Kg to 150kg... after getting my form right with the bench I did clean squats (no belts, harness or cushion on shoulders) and went up to 180Kg!

Anyway, back to ECA... Yesterday was the first time in two months I went to gym in the afternoon (16:30) and man did I feel the ECA working! I almost puked lol

Can see both of you haven't been to my gym:D But yeah, there are many such excercises which people do not know of and secondly are too scared to do.

If you ever have time, this site has some excellent articles and advice on various exercises...

Check that @#$(@$ING COW!!!

Pretty sure the monkeys in this study werent doing bicep curls

So how far could myostatin blocking take us? Well, to answer that, just look at the story of Liam Hoekstra, a toddler from Roosevelt, Michigan, who was born without the myostatin gene. Despite having to overcome some tough birth defects, the youngster could stand up fully after only two days. Within months the toddler was doing pull-ups, inverted sit-ups, Olympics-ready iron crosses, and even punching holes in his parents walls when he threw fits.

This is great for the medical benefits... but the abuse thats going to come with it

I have started a muscle gain program from health24, it seems quite nice. I don't want to look like a bodybuilder, just want to build a bit of muscle. I asked at the gym shop thing and the guy showed me this protein stuff that they just got in that has creatine in it as well... He said it is super good.

what is the name of the product?

Some pretty scary stuff right there. Done a bit of research, looks like it could beat roids in the muscle building front but the health problems...

Look at these mice: http://www.pnas.org/content/98/16/9306/F2.large.jpg

That is freaky... But Imagine what you could look like with a short dose...
