If God didn't want us to eat animals, why did he make them out of meat?

Thanks :)

I seem to have picked up what feels like a microscopic metal splinter ** on the squat rack bar today. Flipping irritating and sore. Do these things go away by themselves?

edit: **in my middle finger, on the tip
Spin lock bar? Or was it from the rack? Often chrome plating comes off in splinters on those spinlocks

after I gripped the bar for the first or second time I could feel the micro splinter. Must be from the bar itself. Not spin locks, they have those springy clips to hold the plates on.

Very tempting that ON special. Question is, unless one is a real supplements junkie is it going to cause you to buy stuff you would not ordinarily use...

Anybody else experience this before?

The last two days I have been experiencing severe headaches the moment I start with my workout.

Last night I battled through it but tonight I stopped after the first set because it was so severe.

It is a head ache right in the middle of my forehead and it kicks in about 4 or 5 reps into the first set of my workout. It subsides a bit when resting between sets but the moment I get to the 3rd or 4th rep of the new set it gets severe again. Feels like someone sticks a knife in my forehead.

I haven't changed anything with regards to supplements. Just using BCAA and a pre workout as always. Tonight I even skipped the pre workout to see if it might be the culprit.

I don't have a machine unfortunately. Might have to invest in it even though I don't have any history of high blood pressure.

... go to clicks and get one and take it to their prescription counter if you're on medical aid - Discovery pays for them depending on what package you're on. Same for blood glucose monitor and ketone monitor. I have all 3 now :)

What's your diet like at the mo? Are you drinking enough water? That's often one of the culprits - too much coffee and not enough water.

Are you perhaps sensitive to Caffeine? Do you get headaches by 11am if you don't have that first morning cup?

Thanks. Didn't know about the medical aid paying for it. Will try it.

Diet is keto and same as always.

I don't do coffee at all. And definitely doing enough water. Up to 5lt per day. Especial when it is as hot as today was.

No headaches at all during day. I generally get like 2 headaches a year. Usually only when I get a cold or flu.

I hope I'm not getting sick. No other symptoms so far.

That is interesting. I'm on lchf now too and it's a different experience in the gym - definitely no glycogen stores in the muscles which makes any bodybuilding routines very difficult. I'm keeping it up for now - just pushing lighter than usual for a bit until I'm at my ideal weight, then back on the carbs, but this time it'll be brown rice, sweet potato and no sugary puddings / biscuits.

I would say perhaps check your blood pressure out - that could definitely be a factor, also try working out at a different time of day to see if that helps. Worst case, see your doc. Oh - and Dischem / regular pharmacies do the blood test and BP machines too.

I don't know anything else than working out on LCHF. Only started working out for the first time in my life after I lost about 20kg of weight. So I can really not compare it to exercising on a regular diet.

Unfortunately my only time to work out is after work as I leave the house very early and later at night family responsibilities make it difficult.

Wife is going to dischem tomorrow. Will let her grab a BP machine and test myself before, during and after workout tomorrow.

If you with discovery then use the screening benefit to get tested at their cost? Do the Vitality test at Dischem or Clicks where there is a nurse on duty.

I don't know if you should be checking your own blood pressure if you don't have experience in doing so already ?

Sugar is a good one to keep an eye on too... perhaps get that too, it's not a bad thing to keep around and Discovery should pay for it. Just get one with readily available and affordable strips so you don't hit your medical savings unnecessarily. How are your energy levels generally? Low BP can also be challenging, but not sure if headaches are a result - you may want to google. I have naturally low BP and struggle with legs as a result.
