You know upright rows are generally frowned upon right? I don't know that a wide grip will make them any less frownable.

I have read that wide grip is better than narrow grip, I feel no pain except maybe sometimes if I try too hard on the last rep and bring my wrists into it at too much of an angle.
I have to use ez-bar and standard bar feels awkward.

I know people frown upon exercising your traps as they claim it makes you seem narrower but I find find that wearing a t-shirt it makes me stand out from the crowd but I also have wide shoulders naturally so big traps add something extra.

Push Press with Barbell heavy as possible as I "cheat" by pushing with slight bend in the knee as though you are jumping.
I find it warms me up very quickly.

Miltary Press also with barbel but with better form, standing and lighter weight.
Heh ok cool. I don't see push press as cheating, it is just another way of doing it, which is why it is called a push press. Pushing with the bend in the knee is perfectly fine.

I was merely just curious to know whether you do both with a barbell or not.

Also, push press is a great way I hear to get used to the heavier weight above you to help you progress the military press to heavier weights.

I have no idea why people can't do it from the floor, and free up the very few squat racks gyms have, its a pain in the arse.
I think it is up to preference, I prefer to do it from the rack.

Also to point out, the 2 VAs I go to, don't have more barbells lying around than they have benches and racks, and peak times, those are all in use either way, so...a bit of a moot point for me. I do agree on the curling, most people that curl in the rack don't do it so heavy, that they cant make use of the smaller fixed weight bars. If I see someone curl heavier than the heaviest fixed weight bars, I'll actually be fine with it I think.

Nothing wrong with working traps  Though I think DLs and shrugs are most effective for that anyway. But upright rows can cause some bad angles in the shoulders, and if you're going relatively heavy it could worsen it. On the other hand your body's geometry might accommodate the move happily, just pay attention to any pains or other odd sensations when doing it.

+1 for standing. You really need good core strength in your last sets.

One thing worth noting is that I do notice some compression in my back afterwards using barbell. I generally stretch between sets and twist my torso from side to side to keep everything loose. But, I can see how standing might not be for everyone.

Fuuuuck

Someone before me today was squatting 130 kg's.

I unrack the right side before the left side.

TIP TIP BOOOOOOOM

Fawking barbell drops from the highest notch, personal trainer was standing right there and just laughed, he was very friendly and said it happens all the time.

Thing is it hit a mirror!

I am so lucky it did not break.

Yoh.

Seems like me and you had fun yesterday...

I was doing dumbbell bench press. I have the weights on my lap, lean backwards and as I lift the weights, my right shoulder said "howboutno" and i had to drop the weight...

It landed on some lady's foot. Not hard mind you, I kinda dropped it with my arm motion, I didn't just let go of the weight. I felt so stupid and everyone was looking at me. I apologised profusely. She wasn't happy.

This is why you need a gym partner. I just need someone to help me in the bench position. Once the weights are above me while I'm lying down I'm fine.

I LOOOOOL when that happens on bench press. By the time you see it, you're too far away to help in time and the weight is teetering on the end of the bar. Half way up, the weight falls and lands with a mighty THUD. Now there are 2 10's on one side and one on the other... THUD left.....THUD right ..... THUD left!!! :twisted:ROFL:twisted:

The roll of shame gets everyone...sooner or later

The worst roll of shame I ever saw was a guy taking a barball from one side off the rack. I have nfi what he did but he knocked the next one over so everyone in the gym looks. Naturally the second one proceeded to cause a "slow-mo" chain reaction till the entire rack was cleared. Poor dude could only stand there red-faced while we all hosed ourselves :D

On a more serious note, I once saw a guy nearly broke his neck and/or spine trying heavy box squats. He basically sat on the bench with about 160kg of weight on his shoulders, and as he stood up his positioning must've been all screwed ( to be honest he was a little guy and no way, by the looks of it, able to lift that weight) and the bar basically started pushing his neck downwards towards in between his knees. So it left him in a ****ty position, since he could not go down any further to rest the bar on the safety bars (bench bankie prevented that, and is also somewhat higher than the safety bars), and he also could not go up (imagine good morning like position with ~160kg on the neck). Luckily he squirmed himself out, somehow...and immediately unracked all the weights and went to do ez-bar curls. Poor guy.

I know that feel!!

That's why I almost never do DB shoulder press, I instead do OHP, getting the darn weights up there harder than the actual lift.

I skipped gym today
It was legs day...

NOOOOOOoooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!

Just messing, I hate leg days as well, well I hate squats, tomorrow is leg day for me.
Today is shoulders, already have the workout in my head, watched some Youtube videos for mental support, I'm rearing to go man!

That is epic. At least you have learned now... unpack weights evenly :)

I skipped gym today :(

NO NO NO!!! Don't do that! Instead of skipping legs for the week, rather move the whole program one day on.

I hate squats so much....I do it 3 times a week, even now after 2 years still.
