That really sucks. When last did you deadlift or squat?

Heavy? I don't think I have this year, been focusing on weight loss, so squats have been between 60 and 80kg, deadlifts 100kg. 8-12 reps... 30 seconds rest.

Can't recall exactly without checking, but I think the last time was the first week in May, then we were away for the otter, then a week off. Last week Monday was Chest.

Last week Monday, woke up with a sore back, no clue why, by the end of the day I needed help getting out of the car at home. Couldn't get on the bed without assistance, couldn't get off the bed without assistance.

Was like that most of last week.

Saw a doctor today, says I cannot pick up anything heavier than 5kg for 3 years :wtf: He says it looks like an old injury from long ago (I actually know when it was). Apparently no physio or bio or pill will help make it heal quicker, only time :(

I haven't touch a heavy weight in months - and now this

I also don't see myself lasting that long without lifting a weight....or more than a month. I'll find away around it.
3 years?!?!?
get a second opinion?

Woah that sounds seriously bad if the doc said that!

I feel your pain, thinking that you are not allowed to lift weight for 3 years. However with this seriousness, it sounds like you may need to give it a rest for at least 6-9 months at the minimum. Then start again as if you are a beginner, starting with only the bar, working your way up to still even low weights over 3 months. By that time 9-12 months have passed. I would seriously consider taking some time off like the doc suggested. Sounds like your body may actually be overworked.

Yeah that sucks, what kind of doctor did u go to, xrapidx?

Can't recall the name atm... Back surgeon.

Don't think one is needed, i can see the problem on my X-ray, but I don't quite buy the 3 years.

During the boot up process nothing "works" except rear view camera when you are in rear gear mode.

When the unit is booted, all the apps that were left open when shutting down, will start automatically and resume. Music will resume where it was stopped, (at least poweramp).

I suppose I can live with that... Not ideal though

It's also a guy who said weightlifting, especially deadlifts are bad in general, and shouldn't be done...so ya, not exactly taking three years off, I'll give it four weeks.

Do you have the X-ray? Post a pic of it if you do. My cousin is a spinal surgeon, I can get his opinion. 3 years is ridiculous unless your back is broken and even then that sounds like a thumb sucked prognosis.

had a similar opinion, second doctor (who was also a bit of a fitness buff) told me to see his chriopractor colleague and to take fish oils and a course of anti-inflammetories. Some people get inflammation more than others, and there are day to day things you can do to reduce inflammation. I dont know if your problem is inflammatory related but if i listened to my first doctor, I would be curling 10kg still.

Reconsidering the 2nd opinion after reading up on a few things last night and this morning.

I have DVD - I think the images are on there, I'll have a look this evening.

I don't see how he could make the diagnosis from the x-ray, basically saying the outer disk is torn - you can't see the disks on an x-ray.

The pain is also way to much, and certain symptoms I feel were ignored, like when I lie on my back, or one side - it feels like I have a tennis ball there, but can't feel any bumps when I rub there.

I've had a slipped disk before, and apparently this isn't as bad - but the pain I have now is way worse, and the fact that it hasn't showed much sign of improving doesn't help. I also find Cataflam and myprodol don't do much to assist.

Without going through pages and pages, where do i find good simple training programs online.
thanky.
Mila.
:)
( for girls please...:D )

End of this month I would have been following the same program for 3 months and thinking maybe its time for a change in exercises. Already seeing a difference now after 2 months...good motivation.

I've seen some funny stuff at my gym lately
My favourite is people that use clips on the smith machine
My second favourite is people that wear belts for every single exercise, from bicep curls, to chest... :D Unless you're 80 years old I don't see a point

Hey man, everybody knows a belt adds +20 to your strength raiting! :p

My Doctor friend also said deadlifts can hurt you especially when you aim for 1RM.
I have dumped all notion of 1Rep maxes in my workouts now, I just can't do them anymore without avoiding injury which will keep me from the gym.

Cant imagine being told to not gym for 3yrs, that would suck and I don't think I could stay away.

First time at gym last night. Sister is showing me the ropes as she has been gyming for years and years. My ass cheeks is freaking sore! I assume it is from the lunges and squats.
