Somehow it feels to me as if the rowing machine does not do as much for the legs as the other machines, e.g. bike.

Yes, but it it f#%kes up your forearms (as in really works it) and gives me a rash on my coccyx!! I want to start swimming because that must be the best workout. But I only have 50 minutes or so to gym, maybe I will start swimming once a week.

I feel i get much more of an upper body workout on the rowing machine then anything else. Maybe my technique is incorrect???

Me too, upper body and forearms. I don't row when doing upper body weights because then I'll be struggling from the start....For all I know I'm probably doing everything wrong, but hey, at least I'm training!

Thats because it tires out your forearms which you need for upper body to control weights. I normally do it last.

Anyone know a good meal replacement supplement, something like this http://www.shakenutrition.com/

Cannot get the last of my fat off my lower tummy so i need to do something because nothing is working , rockin a lekka 4 pack but i want the lower 2 pack to be seen.

Rowing does give you a nice upper body workout as well as a good cardio one.

I usually do 3 minutes or so before doing weights to warm up.

The women with the best bodies in our gym tend to spend a lot of time on the stairmaster type machines so that might be worth looking into :)

I've got the perfect exercise for that lower 2 blocks... But I really don't know how to explain it without showing someone :D

Stairmaster does nothing much for me ... and it exacerbates lower back pain ... my experience :)

I have no problems with the lower 2 pack, i have a problem with a the fat covering it. Nothing but diet will work for it as you cannot target fat area's i think anyways.

Make a youtube video dammit :D.

Killa, I am currently using Nuplex from Evox.

http://www.evox.co.za/News---Events/Nuplex,-your-lifestyle-protein-in-a-box.aspx

NuPlex is a nutrient packed Protein shake and is the most complete and ideal meal replacement formula.
Nuplex is the ideal meal replacement or snack to maintain a healthy Lifestyle, for weight loss, or to increase lean muscle mass.

Unfortunately my local pharmacy and supplementworld don't have stock at the moment so I bought USN Diet Fuel and will start using it today.

Ya, I think Evox's products are the better of USN, Biogen, and maybe even MuscleScience's. The best of the SA products IMO.

Just to clarify. Biogen is Dischem's product that is made by USN for those of you that don't know this. I avoid anything by USN due to past bad experiences with them(Ie. I think most of their product are pure crap :)). I rate the Muscle science and Evox product aren't bad at all. There are also other new SA companies that make very nice products as well.

Hey can you give me a good whey protein supplement, my biogen strawberry is almost retired :D.

Ok so i have a slight issue now that i have gone on the fat busting mission and i have pretty much no body fat :D. What are your suggestions on bulking up. Currently i think i should go for the ripped but sporty look and not weight lifter build :D.

Having used Biogen ISO Whey and now using Evox Synergy Whey, I can really recommend Evox Synergy Whey (strawberry flavour). Tastes amazing and it's a decent shake!

It probably doesnt do AS much as the bike, but if u row properly u r meant to use your whole body and i THINK u will feel it in your quads and bum! Thats how i feel when my trainer makes me do 1000m in 4.5minutes on difficulty 10, soon after completing 15minutes on the treadmill running at 8 - 12.5km per hour!

Correct according to Scooby1961. The only reason some people can't get that 8-pack is just a matter of losing that last bit of body fat.

Watch some Scooby1961 videos on youtube... also, it's very hard i hear to pack on lots of muscle and also retain very low body fat percentage. The body builders go thru a bulking up phase during off-season where their body fat might go up quite high (by their standards) and then they go thru a cutting phase to get ready for competition time.

What is your weight, height, body fat at this point if we may ask?

I'm in a similar predicament where i wanna pack on muscle but i also want that six-pack. I think the six-pack is gonna elude me until i have time to do significant amounts of cardio because currently i am doing just a few minutes for warm ups per gym session, which doesnt really count. Am only making it to the gym these days 2 or 3 times per week. Just too busy right now :(

EDIT: Supplements wise I am gonna start taking Evox 5XL after workouts (can't vouch for this shake yet) and Evox Synergy protein shake on some mornings and evenings. Used to be quite religious with the Synergy shakes until my trainer put some doubt into my mind about how effective shakes are in the mornings and evenings. He says real food builds real muscle :) ANd he used to work for USN and says the sales dudes are just there to move product (obviously) and will tell u anyhting to sell their stuff. Jeff Cavaliere (of AthLeanX programme, on youtube as JDCav24) and Scooby1961 both seem to place emphasis on real foods and hardly seem to punt protein or whey shakes.

Oh, i also bought EFX Kre-Alkalyn creatine a while back but have hardly used it. Gonna try to use it regularly from now on and see if it helps me. My trainer swears by SSN Crea-Pump creatine.

I'm an ectomorph and i weigh 65kg. Am looking to maintain that weight and lower my body fat percentage and increase muscle mass.

Damn, did they say 140 calories in it? That's 588 kilojoules in what they call a "meal". No wonder u would lose weight from using it. A 65kg male eating six meals per day would look to consume about 8000kilojoules in a day, or 1333 kilojoules per meal. This shakeology effort is less than half the kilojoules of 1333.

I can't even find on the website what the makeup of the shake is (i.e. how much protein, carbs, etc...). Lol, sounds like a scam even though they claim it's not a scam :p But hey, who are we to judge? :) THe shakes certainly look filling and yummy :p

Need to lower your BF%...abs are made in the kitchen. You can do crunches the whole day, doesn't mean your going to get abs. Do cardio (hiit) eat below maintanance level.

Weight lifting gloves with wrist support needed

Hey guys, can anyone recommend good weight lifting gloves with wrist support for me? I'm in the Cape Town area. Work in the CBD and live in the Southern Suburbs.

I wanted to get the USN Amara gloves for R199 as they seem to be exactly what i want but USN seems to be having a supplier stock problem and the only sizes available at Dis-Chem are XL and up. I need a medium or large size.

I've been to sportmans warehouse rondebosch and they have some crappy japanese made gloves around R109 in price. I phoned WEllness Warehouse Kloof branch and they have a Harbinger brand which may or may not have wrist support for R249.
