If I feel like dessert, I usually have a small helping of Greek yogurt, maybe mix some honey or cocoa powder in.

Online is probably your best bet.

Try gumtree. You'll probably have some luck there.

I am no expert, but from what I've heard:

Build muscle fast - low reps with heavy weights
Lose weight fast - high reps with lighter weights

So it really depends on what you're trying to do. I started lifting with 3.5kg weights (yes, I was a super skinny nerd) and now use 10kg weights for curls and certain arm exercises, and a 16kg weights for back and some of the other arm exercises.

@zolly

i tried gumtree but will keep looking

see for now i dont want big arms ..i need to lose tummy weight but in the process maybe get some arms ...

so maybe i can try those 5kg ones

I actually read somewhere that people who did lighter weights until failure gained the same amount of muscle as people who lifted heavy weights. Not sure if it is true though

Yeah. I just take what I learnt from the Pumping Iron doccie (starring Arnold Schwarzenneger) and his philosophy is lift heavy, and when you're done lifting, lift three more. The guys who make serious gains are the ones who push through the pain.

I'm not gaining much weight even though I'm obviously getting stronger, but I probably need to increase my calorie intake to start bulking out more.

I also need to figure out how to get my 6 pack to pop out. I can feel it, and there is some definition in the upper area that's visible, but I just can't figure out how to get them to be clearly visible. I do situps, reverse curls, and knee lifts (not strong enough to do proper leg raises yet) while hanging from my pullup bar, and they're not popping out just yet...

well either way i have heard conflicting reports, i.e heavier weights less reps builds more strength and lean muscle, lighter weights more reps builds more muscle mass etc.

but honestly, do which ever works for you, i do like medium weights with medium reps and start off lighter with more reps and finish heavy with lower reps.

you need to loose fat

It must be the tiniest layer of fat ever! Going to try adding some of the following workout to my routine:

http://www.muscleandstrength.com/articles/the-great-abs-mistake-crunches-situps-still-no-abs.html

i have an epic six pack ..just alof of boep over it

Lol. That's the thing. I have no boep. My stomach is pretty flat and like I said, I can see some of my abs near the top, just not near the bottom. The article I posted says that's the hardest area to lose fat on though, so clearly I need to just push through.

You'll have to drop your fat % to around 8%. I gave up on that idea ages ago - its just not for me :p

I prefer ON's Vanilla Icecream, can keep on taking it forever.

Reading some of the posts here...

Myth #1: You can target areas for fat loss, like you can target areas to build muscle. Epic myth this one.

Sadly, they way it works, your body decides where to lose fat, and for men, the boep is the very last part, which is why you have to aim for a total body fat of 7-8% like xrapidx mentioned.

Myth #2: Light weight and high reps will build muscle mass

While not completely incorrect, also not 100% correct. You need to eat like a beast for one, train like a beast. Doing light weights many reps won't really build muscle. First, you need to build strength, via low reps heavy weight, and work that weight up to a very nice value. Then once you have done that, do high reps at 70% of the weight you did on heavy weight + low reps. Now this will help you build muscle, while you eat like a beast.

So conclusion, heavy weight + many reps (12-20) will build muscle mass, as long as you eat more than your body requires, then you will have muscle growth.

Losing fat slowly I think I am around 12/14 % body fat.

I noticed "standard" gymming like you see most guys do in the gym just didn't get rid of fat for me, when I switched over to unconventional training, example I bought 2x 40kg of concrete bags a while back, I train from Home in a 4 car garage so I have the space, I do a circuit up and down the garage carrying those 40kg bags and do as many reps possible in 2min, write it down on chalk board, then try and beat it next time, it's a killer I then follow that with Burpees Crossfit also a killer.
You'll feel muscles in your core you never knew you had, not only that but it makes you dead tired and hungry.
Best thing the bags only cost me R120 for both.
