Interesting site, their prices are good. Are they making their own brand or what?

Not sure, was advertised in latest Men's Fitness magazine.

i bought myself 6kg of usn hyperbolic mass at R350 for 6Kg

when reading the nutritional infos, i see its just the same as the pro nutro i eat in the morning. Except the usn costs 30rand per 500gram where pro nutro is like 20 rand

pro neutro tastes lekker, not even my dog wants to eat the usn mix i made.

Anyone here care to comment regarding my find?
Thanks

Take another look at the carbs on the pronutro box, there will be carbs in grams and then just below it, it'll say "of which sugars" a lot of it is going to be from sugars(which is basicaly an empty calorie), whereas the USN will hardly(if any) have sugars...

Hope you have a solid routine to burn off those shakes.
What are your goals?
Did you try change your diet to suit first, I also made the mistake of buying "MASS builders" when I started years back, all it did was make me and my friends chubby, I now stay away from the stuff especially now I'm in my 30's.

Problem is bread will make you feel full quickly, most guys on "mass builders" have a hard time eating enough calories as it is, but yeah eating a crap load of bread would nice haha

Good advice, mass builders are crap unless your really skinny dude at 6' 2 weighing 60kgs haha I only take pure protein shakes because it can be a pain in the ass to try and eat 200g of solid proteins a day, but getting carbs in is so easy(for me at least), I see no need for them in a shake

Well, in 2 weeks I gained almost 5kg by just adding mass builder shakes and protein shakes in. Using a combination of both works really good for me. Protein shake now goes with my Oats morning meal after my workout, and my mass building shake I take right before bed. Its not exactly what people tell you to do, but hey it worked wonders for me, being a skinny type guy myself, picking up weight is incredibly hard, but losing them weight is super easy if I really want to.

I suspect, once I have bulked to just above the final weight I want, to cut will be easy and fast. Vince del monte suggests cutting 1% bodyfast a week. This is from a guy who mostly help skinny type guys like myself. So to go from 15% bf to 8% should technically only take me 7 weeks, that is less than 2 months!

Hey Tinuva,

I'm a really skinny guy myself (currently 56kg at 5ft7). Been taking protein shakes 5 times a week after each workout for about 2 months now but it's not really helping me gain weight. My muscles are there, but I'd like to increase my weight a bit. I'd like to get to 60-62kgs so I'm thinking about adding some kind of mass builder to my diet.

Which ones do you use (type/brand/etc) and how much do they cost?

Also, any ideas where I can get cheap barbells from? Sportsmans Warehouse has a 50kg set for like R1600 online :/

Try eating 4500-5000 calories without a mass builder.

I'll eat 7000 calories without mass builders:D Not that I do though, just saying, I really don't struggle eating, and I'm not fat either, just a healthy metabolism.

And here's the ideal canidate for mass builder shakes 56kg, thats skinny for a guy...The reason your not gaining weight is easy, your not eating enough, but you already know that most probably, I'd add a mass builder if I were you, but don't think the mass builder will be enough though, still got to stuff you face with actual food as well:D

Subtract 8kg's from that and you have me. 1.65m. I have tried mass building shakes but the problem is they just put the weight on around my waistline and nowhere else :(

I am not going to lie to you, its hard work as a skinny guy to get your weight up. Now I read somewhere an article, I think it was on anabolicminds.com, where you get 2 different types of metabolisms in people, its not black and white, most people fall inbetween somewhere. After working it out, it looks like I fall on the one side, where I tend to lose weight easier.

So lets say you are on the same side, it means your body will respond well to carbs, which is why I take the massbuilder instead of a protein shake at night before bed. For someone on the opposite end, they would just take a casein protein shake instead. Other evidance why I know I respond well to carbs is, if I start cutting carbs but keep fats and proteins high, I don't have any energy in the gym to push hard and increase the weights I lift.

With that being said, I still use protein shakes, for meals which are high in carbs/fats but contain little to no proteins. So I then up the protein with a shake with said meal. The massbuilder is for when you need to increase protein, fats and carbs.

I personally fell in love using Optimum Nutrition, they taste the best to me, doesn't cause me gas, but they most definitely not the cheapest, fairly expensive. Considering I have to take this stuff everyday, I atleast care to enjoy the taste.

For protein shake, I like the ON 100% Whey Gold - Vanilla Icecream flavor - R885 for 2.3kg
For mass builder, I currently take ON Serious Mass - Currently testing the chocolate flavor, its ok, but will try the other flavors too. Its not nearly as tasty as the Vanilla Icecream protein shake, but then again this only available in 4 flavors. R799 for 5.5kg
So this mass-builder works, I just want a better flavor for now. Will probably try the plain vanilla one next.

Uh yeah, Wikkels88 is 100% correct. Before worrying too much about adding mass-builder shakes ect, you do have to get your diet right. My diet fixed my bodyweight from 55kg up to 70kg, and that was before adding any type of shakes at all. I then stagnated at 70kg for more than a year, so now started to add in the shakes, and this is how I started gaining again.

Try GAME, you can buy the plates and build your own barbells and dumbells, might be cheaper than buying already put together items.
A 5KG plate costs R134, 7.5KG plate costs R184 etc
