Quick question, even though I do deadlifts, I still need to work on bench press to get chest muscle growth?

Deadlift has a synergystic effect on overall muscle growth but one still needs to target certain other muscle areas (i.e. chest and upper back) that the deadlift doesn't specifically cover.
In short, yes.

You want to all the big compound moves, or at least the list below.
Deadlift - Overalll strength for lifting heavy objects from the ground properly
Squat - Legs, but includes a lot of core stability
Flat Barbell Bench Press - Chest
Standing Over Head Press - Shoulders, but true measure of upperbody strength
Barbell Rows/Pendlay Rows - Back, needed for a good foundation for Bench Press

Eish!

Had the flu since last week Friday, missing my workouts man...was thinking of going today since I'm "almost" fixed but brain says wait.
I'm sure I heard my bench whisper "we miss you" when I walked past last night...could be the medication though.
Holding thumbs for Wednesday and hopefully no DOMS come Thursday.

I'm getting tired of eating salad with chicken/tuna every lunch time.

Any suggestions?

no carbs?

I am eating chicken with veggies and either potatoes or brown rice at the moment, other times i have beef stew and rice etc. lunch prep can be a major pain in the rear.

The potato sounds like something I could do, maybe I'll try making "more" supper then I'm left with leftovers.
I'm currently only eating carbs in the morning and after a workout.
I usually prep chicken breasts braaied from Sunday as snacks to keep full.

Quick question... Ive tried a few pre-workouts with some success... A friend recommended USN anabolic nitro-x

It does work but I gym in the evening after work and I found that I battle to fall asleep at night (normally go to bed at about 10)

Any suggestions? What would happen if i drank it say an hour and a half before workout?

Edit: USN also recommend that you drink a scoop on rest days in the morning. Why? Im scared ill run out of steam before lunch.

i was using evox muscle punch / 3dt and it worked great, got a good pump and energy, wore off pretty fast and body got used to it. I also used to feel it affectd sleep, using too far before training would be pointless.

Best to allow to cool then freeze and defrost as needed.
The chicken will be dry if not marinated and taste bland.

Bought myself an Olympic bar from Sportsmans for R200, just the bar alone must weigh about 10kgs+
I can already feel I get much better grip with a thicker bar, only problem is some of my weight disks 2.5 - 15kg don't fit the bar :(
So heavy deadlifts are out until I purchase more weight and weights are pricey.

An Olympic bar should weigh 20kg exactly.

I just saw the price, @ R200 its most likely not a proper olympic bar, they're considerably more than that.

The actual bar thickness right through is olympic thickness I'm sure, I didnt weigh the thing so will put it on scale tonight but it substantially heaver than my other bars so could be close to 20kg, it doesnt snuggly fit those large olympic plates though, where the bar is thicker on both sides to accomdate the large rubber coated plates

Does it say how much weight it can take? The problem with an inferior one would be if you load 300kg, pick it up and it breaks in half :p

Nothing marked brand wise but judging by it's weight and thickness I'm hoping it can hold some decent weight, if the normal bar can hold 182kg my current max, I'm sure this baby can hold over 300kg, not that I'll be getting to 300kg anytime soon weighing at 75kg :)

But I'm keen to try with the thicker grip, the other bars I have bite into your hand, this one feels much better.
Bench press Monday so I'll give my baby a spin tonight.

Anyone here use kettlebells at their gyms?

They are on special at sportmans for R300 20kg which is actually pretty cheap but when I look at the exercises it doesn't seem for me.
Seem's more for toning etc.

olympic bar should be around 20kg.

I weighed the bar last night on a bathroom scale and it came it at around 16kg.

Had my first bench press routine with it, I can already feel a difference and I upped my 1rm by 10kg already.
Only problem is now I have to buy more plates to fit this thing so I can deadlift which is going to set me back a couple grand.
