So she wants new proposals from the EU after they rejected her ridiculous plan?

She’s getting out of the EU, she proposes and finds solutions, not the EU...

From what I can see she is merely trying to share / shift the blame for either hard brexit or no brexit which remain the only two likely options at this point in time.

She's not actually expecting proposals, just setting the narrative.

She’s crying a river to blame the EU and look like she did everything to avoid a no deal.

Her words and tone also make it look like it’s now personal, probably on purpose to play on the emotions.

Well that's a futile exercise right there, doubt a single brexiteer gives a flying toss about May's feelings.

If her incompetence accidentally yields a hard brexit though it'll be a great day for Britain.

Oh Gove is dumb.

Sent me these dumb letters that he wrote to represent his constituency, who were bothered by our work widening the M3 in Hampshire.

The endless amount of tact and re-edits we had to go through in our reply so as not to offend or be condescending towards him, as we pointed out the errors in his letters.

From what I gather you probably wasted your time being diplomatic, unless it was “you’re a fecking c***” it would have gone right over his head anyway...

Quite right! We leave. No payment, except perhaps from the EU for our share of the EU assets. We charge them duty on imports, and keep it. (At present it goes to the EU.) They charge us duty, and keep it. We gain. We do not need a deal or agreement, although the EU is obliged to negotiate something as we go, by EU law.
Much of what is being said re brexit is incorrect. Northern Ireland is not border free. In Belfast C&E had a mobile office we used to carry out border checks. My team did some in the late 1990s. We also did an exercise on the train to Dublin.

Has nothing to do with his pro-Brexit or pro-Trump stance. Chris is also pro-Brexit and pro-Trump, yet manages to refrain from spouting bigotry everywhere. Weird, huh?

Calling all refugees "rapists" is bigotry. I'm sorry if you don't feel that way.

1) Nothing that Tusk said on Chequers, that Macron said about some Brexiteers (while stressing he respected the choice of British voters), and that Merkel said about the single market and four freedoms, is anything they hadn’t said before.

2) Surprise today is in many ways due to misreading the past few weeks and months. Misplaced optimism and reports stemming from who knows where, ignoring reality, confusing details that evolve all the time with substance and principles that have remained intact since day one.

3) May’s Chequers or nothing approach has frustrated many. It is not viewed as strength, but worrying weakness: not having the strength to do what’s needed to get an agreement, and push it over the line back home.

4) Attempts to divide and conquer have backfired spectacularly:
- The 27 leaders talk to each other. Who knew.
- Barnier’s mandate and instructions come from the EU27.

5) Daily tactical blunders and empty threats did the rest: ‘we’ll change the deal after 2019’, 'we won’t pay the bill’, reports of divergent food standards via a US trade deal (and how that reconciles with asking to be in the single market for goods, who knows) etc etc.

6) Quite a few will blame officials in the same way they blame Barnier for being “too rigid”. Yes, Chequers is flawed but at the heart of the UK stance and strategy, just like EU27's, are political decisions (red lines), direction & leadership in a very asymmetrical negotiation

7) So where are things at?

Exactly where they were the day before Salzburg:

- in urgent need of a backstop that avoids a hard border in Northern Ireland

- and then a political declaration precise enough to not question the integrity of the single market post-2019

Brexit costing Britain £500m a week and rising

Brexit is already costing the public purse £500m a week, new research has found – a stark contrast to the £350m “dividend” promised by the Leave campaign. The Centre for European Reform’s analysis also suggests that the government’s austerity drive would be on the way to completion had Britain voted to stay in the European Union.

It shows that the UK economy is already 2.5% smaller than it would have been had Remain won the referendum. Public finances have been dented by £26bn a year, more than half of the defence budget. This translates to a penalty of £500m a week, a figure that is growing.

'Catastrophic' no-deal Brexit would 'crash the economy', Tory business minister admits

Business minister Claire Perry has broken ranks to warn that a no-deal Brexit would be “catastrophic” and “a way of crashing the economy”.

Theresa May and other cabinet ministers have insisted the UK can prosper even if it crashes out of the EU without an agreement – insisting that remains an option.

But Ms Perry said: “No deal is a recipe for a catastrophic series of consequences.

“It’s also a way of crashing the economy and of doing great damage to our most productive industries.”
