The Brexit Thread

I heard that part a lot during the discussion yesterday in parliament.
How is changing your mind on a deal delivering what the people asked, similar to people who requested to leave, now being assumed to not wanting to leave?

Liberals are losing their minds because a vote didn't favor their view and wants to keep on voting on it till they win. That is not how referendums work. Imagine if the referendum to end apartheid was voted and voted and voted for till it served the purpose of those who didn't want it to end? Make peace with it. Brexit has been voted for and it needs to be delivered on way or the other.

Only choices really is how it should be done. I'm still for a hard Brexit, but any Brexit will do at this stage.
That's exactly how referendums work. Public perception changes!

Imagine in 2016 the Brits saying they can't have a referendum on the EU because they had one in 1975?

How is that the same? Have a referendum 40 odd years later compared to 2/3 years later without even delivering the initial vote? You can't compare it, no matter how much you want to

Yeah, yeah, yeah. We all know the hyprocrisy of Remoaners. If they'd won, there'd be no clamour for another referendum simply because the media & political establishment (who are basically merged these days) support Remaining. In their eyes, it would put to bed the "European question" despite the fact that the EU is now becoming more integrationist. Voters are a mere nuisance to the weird bunch of failed politicians who live the high life in Brussels/Strasbourg having bullshitted enough countries into giving up their sovereignty and money for a pretence of unity.

Switching my support to Dominic Raab now - only Brexiteer leadership candidate who hasn't embarrassingly capitulated to May's awful deal.

Sorry Boris & JRM but you have put party unity over the country -- can't support that. That's going to cost you I'm afraid.

Except Raab was Brexit secretary a while back and he delivered .... NOTHING.

So typical Brexit hypocrisy.

Haha, great to see the Tories implode in such spectacular style. They really are all over the place.

But tell me Chris, why are you a supporter of Brexit? You go hard against your demographic and for some reason are in the camp of the working class boors and the 'gammons'. I've just spent over a year in the UK on a project, and the young university educated Conservatives, who basically made up my team, were all dead against Brexit.

Chris has absolutely no idea of what any segment of the UK population actually want.

He gets his opinion from the right wing tabloid websites and Facebook.

Yeah, that makes sense. I suppose he has no idea what constitutes modern British life and what young people who live there are actually thinking. The young guys that I know who I think are of a similar kind and background as him are in Europe every few weeks for skiing, stags, rugby etc. They want to be in Europe. It’s the loudmouth football hooligan types that all want out

His thinking is probably straight out of Churchill’s biography I suppose. A Britain that really hasn’t existed for decades.

Shock horror I get my opinions from media who support Brexit.

Still better than what you think what Leavers want by reading the Guardian, Independent and watching BBC/Channel 4/Sky News.

No, because even they have various ideas of exactly what they want, none of which our Australian friend has any personal knowledge of.

Actually the top rated comments on the DM and Telegraph are very clear. Making stuff up as you go along...

Actually, oddly enough most of us get our information from multiple sources, one of which are people actually living in the country itself. It might shock you, but a good number of us have friends there, and colleagues as well.

Oh boy. I think your “wannabe” complex has failed you dramatically and your opinions are really just formed by this strange illusion you have of what people and life is actually like in the UK.

He probably thinks Downton Abbey is a documentary about today’s Britain.

Why do you suppose I don't have friends and family in the UK?
