The BYD (EV) Thread

I have also been thinking of a BYD PHEV to replace my Nissan Qashqai, but I would most like be looking at the Atto 2 as I would like to stay under R500k.

Nothing wrong with the Qashqai. We have some excess solar in summer and I was thinking the PHEV would be able to soak that up. My wife's work is less than 4 kilometers away and she would be able to do that round trip on battery alone.

Is it worth spending R500k to soak up some excess solar? That is like:

Maybe wait for a 5 year old Atto 2?

Maybe get an i3 or something for R200k for the 4km trip? How much is an uber?
 
I have to add that it is a 2023 Qashqai and fully paid off. The other concideration would be to replace our second car (Fiat 500) with a fully electic city car.
