Three security guards wounded in Cape Town cash-in-transit heist.

Cape Town - Three security guards were injured in a cash-in-transit heist at the Darwin and Hill roads intersection in Kraaifontein in Cape Town on Friday night, Western Cape paramedics said.

ER24 paramedics, along with the metro fire services, arrived on the scene at 7:30pm to find the wrecked cash-in-transit van in the left-hand lane of the road, ER24 spokesman Russel Meiring said.

. Cash heists: the Zim link

It was a tip-off that led the Flying Squad to a cache of explosives at the corner of Wolmarans and Simmonds streets in Joburg's CBD.
What members of the squad found there yesterday morning were 50 individual commercial explosives and 200 detonators that had allegedly been smuggled across the Zimbabwean/South African border in a passenger bus.

They were the same type of explosives used by cash-in-transit heist robbers to blow open armoured cash vehicles.

The SAPS were able to make one arrest, but it wasn’t to be the only incident that involved explosives smuggled in from Zimbabwe that week.

A day earlier at the Beit Bridge border post, customs officers found two unaccompanied bags in a panel van.

Isn't it odd that the people who supplies the explosives don't know how to use them? :D
Quite sure the Zimbabwe expertise would be a lot cheaper than Botswana.

Police activate 72-hour activation plan to find cash heist suspects

JOHANNESBURG - Police have once again implemented what they call a “72-hour activation plan” as they track down those behind another cash-in-transit heist.

A security guard was shot and hurt in Pretoria on Saturday when a group of unknown men targeted the cash van in Hatfield.

Police say the criminals managed to get away with an undisclosed amount of money.

Problem is while they are busy with their 72 hour plan a new shipment of explosives will come in from Zim and the Botswana experts will be blowing up another cash van, it is frustrating.
 
Don't worry guys.. After 72 hours they will catch the king pin from Malawi and claim the heists will stop until someone from Mozambique comes to the party and blows up another van.
 
JOHANNESBURG - Eyewitness News understands the police took no chances when transporting the man believed to be a cash-in-transit heist kingpin and flew him back to Pretoria from Bloemfontein.

The Hawks and Crime Intelligence arrested Wellington Cenenda, also known as “Bibi”, at his girlfriend’s house during an operation on Thursday night.

While he’s been linked to at least two dozen cash van robberies in Gauteng, he was arrested on a murder warrant linked to an attempted heist in Mpumalanga.

Bedfordview CIT heist criminals sentenced to 56 years

Celempilo Zuma and Temba Nhlapo were this morning sentenced to a total of 56 years imprisonment for the 2015 Bedford Centre cash-in-transit heist, Bedfordview Edenvale News reports. The sentencing of Zuma and Nhlapo comes after several postponements in the matter. Both were sentenced to an effective 45 years imprisonment.

Zuma and Nhlapo were arrested in 2015 for their involvement in the Bedford Centre CIT heist. They were found guilty earlier this year on two counts of attempted murder, two counts of armed robbery and possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition.

Security guard shot in Mpumalanga cash-in-transit heist

A s ecurity guard was shot and wounded in a cash-in-transit heist in Kanyamazane in Mpumalanga on Thursday morning.

National police spokesperson Brigadier Vish Naidoo told News24 that the security guard was shot in the hand when a group of armed men ambushed the vehicle.

"An undisclosed amount of money was taken during the heist," Naidoo added.

CASH-IN-TRANSIT HEISTS DROPPED 63% IN JUNE - CELE

PRETORIA - Police Minister*Bheki Cele*has announced a 63% drop in*cash-in-transit heists*in the month of June since the launch of the aggravated robbery stabilisation campaign.

The minister made the announcement at a briefing in Tembisa on Thursday.

Cele and National Police Commissioner Khehla Sitole started the campaign two months ago after a spate of violent cash van attacks.

The police minister says that 43 suspects have been arrested since the start of June, including suspected cash-in-transit heist kingpin*Wellington Cenenda, also known as Bibi.
