The Craft Beer Thread

How does one get hold of all these craft beers? I mean most liquor stores only sell SAB stuff and maybe Jack Black or CBC and a Erdinger. Seems like there is at least one brewery in every town. Is there a website of sorts that lists all craft beers and where they are?

Find a decent bottle store, a good one will have a good range of beers, otherwise there is a beer club that sends you different beers every month, maybe someone else has the details.

PnP Liquor in De Ville Centre has a selection to get you started. Roeland Liquors in CBD is craft beer heaven. Otherwise, join the League of Beers club and get a mixed box delivered monthly.

Thanks will have a look at De Ville centre and that beer club. Might be interesting getting a surprise pack each month too.

Roeland street or http://www.leagueofbeers.com/

LOB monthly mixed case is a great way to start with craft beer. I went half/half with a friend so we'd get together and share a beer. This let us get through quite a few in an evening. Once we sorted out what we liked we then started ordering specific mixed cases or full cases depending on what we were after.

Tried Loxton Lager at a restaurant last night. It is the best thing I've ever tasted. Brewed in Parkhurst, and the restaurant owner told me Solly Kramers in Parkhurst stocks it.

Can anyone recommend a nice brewery visit and tasting? I've been to Birkenhead before for a tasting, any others in Cape Town and surrounds?

That League of Beers looks awesome!

Looks good thanks. There is a brewery on the main road close to the Kleinmond turnoff. Haven't been there myself but apparently its quite nice too. They make a few interesting beers including a chilli one.

The road to Hermanus? That's Honingklip and you can do tasting there. They have about eight beers. Didn't notice a chilli though.

Yes thats the one. I was at Hermanus craft market and they sold a chilli beer there. I thought it was from that brewery but I might be mistaken but it was a chilli ginger one.

No, just no.... Tried it last weekend, tastes like this herbal water **** my mom drinks eugh!!!!

If you sods feel like being sociable I recommend:

1: Gilroys, near Beyers Naude ramp on the N14
2. Capital Craft in Brooklyn
3. Machics across the road from The Grove next to the hospital

Quite heavy at 9% alc. Had the dark before this which was very nice.
