I've you had been playing since day 1 - the first 3 months of the game, the hacking was BAD - you'd almost always see 1 or 2 hackers per day.
It's at a point now where there is 1 hacker "every now and again" but apparently UBISOFT do deal with them and quite aggressively - I think the same thign that happened with the Blizzard cheat tool is going to happen to the guy who creates the Division hacking tool
 
Still very new to the game level 8.Couple of questions about the multiplayer sorry if its been answered.
1. Characters hanging around the safe houses with stats etc are those ai or actual other players in the PVE. How does the groups work and inviting players in the PVE ?
2. Is multiplayer (pvp) only Dark Zone.
3. Some recommend Discord server where do I actually choose or again is that only DZ ?

You play in groups of up to four players. You can invite anyone to group up with you provided their settings allow for it, or you can matchmake / quick matchmake at the start of a mission. Dark Zone works in much the same manner.

1. Those are actual players. You can group up with anyone provided they accept your invitation.
2. Yes, PvP is only available in the Dark Zone.
3. Discord or using your mic in-game is available in any part of the game in a group.

Wow what a big jump in difficulty in challenging mode. Clocked the game solo current gear score 163 but got my ass kicked in Lexington challenging mode World Tier 2.

It gets much easier once you max your gear score. Better weapons, gear and mods help a lot on challenge difficulty.
 
How active is the game, stopped playing after the first expansion. Game had so much potential but felt like a let down.
Anything happening atm? Is it worth getting back into?

Im no expert and only started playing after patch 1.5 now 1.6 and could not find fault in the game personally. Don't encounter many pvp in dead zone but there are some people and quiet a bit hanging around in the safe houses. As for the daily, weekly missions underground etc there is not a shortage of things to do after finishing the main game. Trying to get my character at max level now so will see how it goes after that.
 
Again sorry this has probably been answered but survival mode PVP vs PVE. Where does the PVP come in or same like the the main game with pvp only in the DZ ?
 
You can play survival as PvE or as PvP. You select it when you join the queue to join a game.
