The Droid TV thread

Ok, Netflix and BBC iPlayer errors are originating from operating the box using ethernet. Switched to wifi and the problems don't reoccur!

Good to hear. I'm on ethernet so that doesn't make sense but if it works, it works

I get a lot of 'stuttering' with Netflix. Every few minutes it would pause for a split second and resume. I've tried different versions of the app with the same results.
Anyone else experience this?

@Awesum, which firmware are you running, which box and do you know how to flash?

I'm on 110k4. I have the 2Gb MXIII and I know how to flash.

Have you used the AMLogic flash tool before? Also you will lose your XBMC and live TV additions and Mediaman customization. Boot screen different.

I haven't used the tool before. If it fixes the problem then I don't mind. I can backup and restore xbmc.

"The requested topic does not exist."
It was there earlier.

Got snowed it seems ...

Okay, so let's do this manual ...

I'll PM You, my internet connection just died on me

Lol, these droid boxes seems to be very hormonal. Mine refuses to work on wifi, while ethernet works 100%. Go figure.

So what's still irritating me is having to use an old version of Netflix (3.7.1) and the standard remote doesn't work with it, some/most clips on BBC iPlayer only play the audio with no video (can use Tvplayer app for live UK channels tho), can't get DSTV Now to work (device registered to a different user error) and Sky Go won't work because the box is rooted.

I don't bother with XBMC because I use Plex (TV view instead of mobile is cool) and Mobdro sees to free streaming. Supersport is also good. Coming from a Roku I definitely don't think it's as plug and play and user friendly like the Roku but a great box if you want to fiddle (which I do but the family is complaining a bit while I work out the issues). My two cents...

So DSTV Now is a no go because it is rooted as confirmed by DSTV

I dont understand why rooting is not an optional feature of the Droid TV because I'm sure like me there are others that have no need for it and it is becoming more of a burden for us.

Get a fire tv. Works well with DSTV now, supersport and a remote friendly version of TVPlayer and iPlayer.

No. I have a non rooted fire tv and I sideload apps. Amazon intentionally allowed sideloading on the fire tv.

Fire tv looks like a good option with not too much hassle required to setup. Sky Go won't work but that seems to be the only downfall. Does Aptoide work on the box?
