The Droid TV thread

@AlexFl: Post again if you are still having problems or need any more information. If you can use a browser to stream from those websites you will have a much better understanding of the internal workings of XBMC. If you understand how these streaming sites function you can request to have these customisations added to your DroidTV MX so that everything is set up and ready to stream when it arrives.
 
The ATV520E only has 2 USB ports vs 4 on the DroidTV, 4GB of internal storage vs 8GB and no Composite video out. There are also some XBMC customisation options for the DroidTV if requested.

They supposed to be a distributor, but recently more and more distributors are peddling their wares on this forum, wares that "should" be sold to retailers

Saying that, competition is good :)

For those holding out, our newest batch of DroidTVs are R100 cheaper

Hi Guys, this is my first post. Received my DroidTV last night from AVSupply. Have read every single post on this topic, very helpful. Has anyone tried Remote Desktop to the DroidTV? As in DroidTV is the server, windows pc is the client. Apparently 3CX DROIDDesktop 2 will work. Via browser on client though. Another question, how do we see the Root status? Thanks

I haven't heard of that Remote Desktop software, let us know if it works?

Regarding root status, the DroidTV MX is fully rooted

@diets: Welcome to the DroidTV family! I'm sure that you will find that it's a really indispensable gadget to keep you occupied when the soccer comes to an end while it's still so cold at night.

Once the new stock arrives, R1200 is great value in my opinion for an android device that has access to so much content without having to worry about downloading or wading through screens of videos on Netflix and Hulu Plus trying to find something decent to watch.
 
Hi guys, I've been reading through this thread and I think this is what I've been looking for, mainly bcos it has xmbc.
@avsupply can u pls confirm if Pseudo addon is supported on this device. Currently I stream movies frm my pc onto Sony Bravia tv but can't watch all my mkv videos. Also if I don't signup for unotelly what other streaming addons will I have access to?

@sy-uname: You don't need unotelly to watch content from 1channel, ProjectFreeTV etc. Just use a browser and take a look at what content is available on www.projectfree.tv, www.primewire.ag, www.icefilms.info. This is the same content that is available using XBMC, just without the annoying popup ads etc. You can find practically any mainstream video content that you want on these sites. Send me a PM if you want to see what other free options are available to replace unotelly. I have also been quite impressed with Show Box which is a free Netflix type video streaming service.

Hi

I'm looking for a standalone box that use XBMC. Already have a HP micro server and RaspberryPI running Openelec. I want to use the HP as server, and then the standalone XBMC boxes at each of my 3 TVs. Reason for not going with more RaspberryPIs: bit too laggy and slow to my liking.

I'm bit worried about the Android system running XBMC. Can these boxes boot up directly to XBMC, and is it possible to remove the bottom Android OS "bar" on the display?

What is the difference between the:
1) DroidTV MX
2) MX IPTV box
3) Q7 box.

I dont really care about the small differences like wireless, extra loaded apps, nice remotes, etc. I just need the one that will work best for me: fastest, frequent updates, stable.

Does only the DoidTV MX have a linux buils, or teh others as well?

So, I tested 3CX DROIDDesktop and AirDroid. No success.

Thanks for confirming. Can you explain why you need remote desktop support, and I'll try find you a working solution
