The Droid TV thread

Yeah I just wifi ... No ethernet ... Leases everything from router ..
Not even plugged into it.

Can someone(besides the guy selling it ;) ) give me their views on the MG582, as far is DroidTV boxes go is it a good example? AVSupply comes highly recommended so gravitating towards getting from them and is a decent price around what I'm willing to pay(1500-2k including air remote).

And the most important question. Can I stream Supersport on it, via app or browser is fine?

The Android Supersport application works, but only if you have a Premium DSTV subscription

The DSTV Now application currently doesn't work due to DRM restrictions. The MG582 is a Google Certified device, so hopefully it's added to the approved list in the near future

Can I get a double/triple confirm from anyone using this please?

Don't care about DSTV Now luckily... If confirmed you have yourself a sale;)

Bad news for you.
From 26 March you will require a Premium DSTV Subscription R699, PVR Fee of R80 and a linked PVR decoder to access DSTV streaming services from the web and other devices. So if one of your devices are linked to someone else's DSTV Premium account, it won't work anymore unless you also pay the R80, PVR access fee. Normal DSTV Premium subscribers won't be able to use any DSTV streaming, not even Supersport that is available to them now.

The account I have has 2 Explora's, PVR and ExtraView on it so the subscription is not an issue.

It's a simple question, can someone who uses the DroidTV MG582 from http://www.avsupply.co.za/ please confirm that I can stream SuperSport on it? Thanks.

Greetings gents
I'm having an issue with my MX2. There seems to have been a hard reset and the installed version on XBMC was removed. I them installed the apk fire Kodi 14.2. The first time I tried to start it I got an error Superuser debited access. Tried to disable the app, cleared Kodi cache in app settings. Then when I try to stay Kodi, I just get a black screen and have to restart the box by switching off and on. Am I able to get Kodi to run on the MX2? If not, how do I go back to XBMC?
Thanks

Ok
I installed SuperSU which uninstalled Superuser. Kodi still did not work. I then rest it again, which speed Kodi as well as SuperSU. Reinstalled Kodi and it's working find now.

anybody know whats up with a black screen with audio? seems to happen now and again, where i will click on an add on, then get a black screen but can still hear the audio. Rebooting normally sorts it out, but not sure what is happening there

Which forum is this?

If it can be done on any android device it can be done on the MG582.

In the real world I'm sure that's the case but in DSTV land who knows, DSTV Now(whatever that is) is blocked on this device so I'm trying to find someone who is using the SS app or even better streams via a browser on the box.

EDIT: will ask again after 11 April when SS changes whatever they're changing. If I can still stream on this then I'll put my order in.

I'm also very keen on getting the Mg582. My biggest concern is how much App. space is actually available on this device? Can anybody confirm that?

Hi MightyQuin

There is 8GB internal memory, and a MicroSD slot that supports cards up to 32GB

If you want to know how much space is left after it's loaded with the OS and custom apps, I'll do a quick check for you

SS app works on MG582 provided you have premium. Just don't understand why it outputs "letter box". Maybe some of the other guys can weigh in.

Which channel ? I've noticed that on SS5 and 6 from time to time on the iOS SS app, other channels are fine. Thought it was IPTV broadcast related.

I just heard that normally there is only 1 gb space left that can be used to install new apps. This apparently is because of the way the drives are partitioned. Hopefully I'm wrong.
