I might have misread the article but as far as I remember the $40 off will only be for the shield and remote.

Thanks, yes correct, fine for my needs. Still old price, lots of people complaining online that the discount is not applied as of yet.

One needs to subscribe to Amazon Prime to qualify for these discounts( with deal prices ) on devices right ?

Amazon UK price has dropped by £40 but the Pound makes it not worth it.
I've got 2 sitting in my US cart, just waiting for the price to drop.

Actual Prime Day is officially July 17th. That is when this deal will likely go live, at midnight tonight. The Prime Day deals that are already live right now, on July 16th, are technically Pre-Prime Day deals. Check back tomorrow for the $139 price.

Sort of correct, 21h00 our time by my count. Yes, that announcement came through at around 23h02 our time last night. And it's going to be a "lightning sale".

If you are g0ing to be doing 4K stuff it has limitations eg Max 35Mbps bitrate for hevc video. For me that's just about the biggest problem with it

Otherwise it's a good device you can sideload apps and it's more stable than the other generic Droid boxes out there

Bought one, wasn't allowed to add 2 to my cart. Buying 2 in separate orders isn't really much a saving.

Edit: it actually won't let me buy another one at the discounted price. Only offering $179 price for a 2nd order. At least I got 1 cheaper.
