The Droid TV thread

So a quick like 10 minute call to Amazon and they issued a replacement unit for free. They were quite understanding of the unfortunate situation
 
Whilst waiting for my NVidia Shield, I worked a bit on the Mi Box - Upgraded to OREO and PATCHED system. All of a sudden the remote works as it should, the voice search does not give me "Midget-angry-porn" when searching in my South Africa accent and the connection is stable. Well worth the upgrade...

I have experiencing some small issues...
Losing wifi signal.. just restarting...

One "fault" I discovered last night, ShowBox can't be navigated without an airmouse. Now to look for a quality airmouse that matches the the Shield class.

Yes, this happened once with my sister (she lives in NJ, USA) as I often send stuff to her for me. They leave stuff on the porch etc. Most commonly I send to a hotel as I have a good mate who's a long haul pilot and is either in NYC or Washington DC every 2 weeks. The hotel is obviously safer as it gets signed for by someone 24/7.

I have the shield and showbox works fine with the shield remote. Never had any issues . The only thing I can think off is that there is a glitch in showbox when you try to login the first time. It does not respond after the password. But if I remembered correctly I used the game controller and it worked

Showbox or Showmax?
Showmax is fine for me (requires username/pass)
Showbox is a different story.

Sorry my mistake, have never used showbox am more a terrarium user and that has an android tv setting

Welcome to the party. Terrarium is addictive. If you have any problems with streaming then go the download route. An app like ADM works well with Terrarium. If you want to watch now, set the download to a single thread. let it download for 10 minutes then start watching while it downloads.

is showbox still working? i had a look not too long ago and there are no streams available for most shows
 
The Nvidia Shield I bought during the Amazon Prime Day sale finally arrived.

Not sure what to do now with my (out of warranty) non-functional original Shield Pro of a couple years ago. I have a bunch of stuff downloaded on that internal 500GB storage. I wonder if that hard drive is somehow salvageable?

It is working again. I agree, a while ago nothing worked. I uninstalled then a mate said it was working, tested and it is. I like it because no choices of sources etc, it either plays a stream or it doesn't.
Tried terrarium last night, a few failures to find stream, and the verifying annoys me.

Yes, i liked it because it was just click and go.

Hmmmmm gonna give this Showbox thing a shot as well. No choosing sources is a win
 
Except you are restricted to 720P max. But it does have quite a few clones so if one app goes down there are a few others that you can choose from.

Ok , when you say one app goes down, are you talking about the whole installed app going bonkers thereby requiring an uninstall and installation of another clone app?

Or we talking of the "behind the scenes" source switching when one source fails?

I'm pretty sure that'll be a stock standard SATA HDD. If the box is dead in any case, take the HDD out and see what happens when you plug it into a computer.
