The Droid TV thread

Hi guys, has anybody here updated the Nagrace N8 with Android Oreo?

Nice...are you a beta tester?
Edit: Alright I see , 'Private Early Access'

I signed up for their "preview program" aka beta testing when I got the Shield but then after about a week or two decided to remove myself from the program. I didn't feel like having issues with my primary viewing device. I got confirmation that I had been removed, but then I still got the preview build offered to me.

Slightly off topic, but what nodel TV is that?

LG UHD 65", don't recall model number. Mahala from Ebucks a little while back.

Hi guys, has anybody here updated the Nagrace N8 with Android Oreo?

I have been meaning to get around to it, maybe I'll put it on my list of things to do this weekend.

Lol I was looking for Oreo too, have you installed Nougat?

Ah, haha, okay, I thought you had seen the Oreo update somewhere and were wondering if anyone had installed it yet/feedback on it.
No, all I can see from mo123 is the a Nougat rom he released a few days ago. I'll install that this weekend.

Please document your process and difficulties if any. :)

Hi, are there any android box available that supports YouTube, Netflix and DStv now?

There are several. Nvidia Shield is another. Any Google certified device should work in theory. I also have a cheap & nasty MXQ Pro+ that works with everything including Showmax.

Thanks. I'll have a look at those

Apologies but I am new to the Android TV box scene.
I would like to know what I would require in order to sign up for an IPTV subscription. I do not have a Smart TV and currently use a WD TVLIVE media player which I would like to replace and get IPTV working.
Any help with recommendations on the Android Box is appreciated

A difficult question to answer, but from my perspective, a Skyworth Binge Box, a Telkom LIT TV box, or a Mi Box. Skyworth box, from Takealot. Mi Box from Takealot and other suppliers, Telkom LIT TVbox from Telkom.

Skyworth box is cheapest then LIT box, most expensive the Mi Box, which goes out on special fairly regularly.

I have both a LIT TV box and Mi Box at home and am happy with both. Skyworth box, came to my notice after I bought the Mi Box or I might have bought it instead.

The brand new about to be released Amazon Fire TV stick is on my want list.

Then there are the Roku's, which are not Abdroid, but decent as well.

You can get cheaper and a whole lot more expensive ( nVidia Shield )

Lots to choose from and make most people happy.

One thing about the LIT Box. Youtube crashes it, making the experience poor and less feature-rich, as all your previews, reviews and comments are nowadays on youtube...

Load Smart YouTube TV and all is well.

A side note, the Skyworth box has just gone to Oreo, with out any major train smashes yet, Mi Box not so good, lot of people happy with Oreo, some less so. A fixed Oreo, I expect before year end.

Oreo, is expected on the LIT box by year end it seems.

Keeping in mind that this is South Africa, might be awhile before expectations are met.

I would go with the Skyworth box. One can also sideload a netflix apk to enable netflix functionality.

For IPTV, if you want to watch all dstv channels except kyknet and supersport and more I can recommend Hydrohosting. Except for the hundreds of live channels they also have VOD content - movies and tv series.
Been using them for a year now. In place of supersport you get Sky Sports from the UK which shows 99% of what supersport does. Will cost you around R239 p/m or R179 if p/m if you subscribe quaterly. What is great is that 80% of the channels is available in 3 qualities: SD, HD and FULLHD catering for all line speeds from 4mbps and up so you wont experience buffering even on a slow adsl connection

The whole hydrohosting setup runs inside kodi with a full tv guide included
