The Droid TV thread

@Mr K: Here are two YouTube videos which show exactly what to expect when you turn on the DroidTV MX. This is the machine from AVSupply that many of us are using to stream movies and TV shows from the Internet. It comes with Netflix, Hulu Plus, YouTube, XBMC, a web browser, android etc. preloaded and is ready to use after connecting up the video and power cables.

Ohk got my hands on a droid tv but I can't get any output via av. Occasional stripes coming down but just blue. :( can anyone shed any light. Don't have hdmi option in the room just av.

I have mine connected via the AV output. Is the plug pushed all the way in?

Assume it's the MX2?
And does it dot that on a fresh startup?
Are you able to connect it via HDMI and check the firmware version?

I subsequently connected via hdmi in the lounge and it's perfect. Quite miffed actually. Should just be plug and go. Tomorrow night again. Need to figure out the wifi and stuff. It boots straight into xbmc as well. So I haven't seen the android part yet. The xbmc looks like frodo.

What boot image do you have when it starts up?

If XBMC is auto starting, your box is using the XBMC launcher.

It has a penguin initially I think. Then 'xbmc' in a red font. Any ideas on the av situation?

Ok, you're running the Linux XBMC firmware. If you want to convert back to Android, it's a 2 part process.

Let me know if you want the instructions and I'll send them to you tomorrow

Try pulling the AV plugs out very slightly. Many years ago I had a plug that when pushed fully in did not make contact.

Firmware 1.1.6

I have not fiddled with the firmware since I bought the box from you a couple of months ago.

Ok, awesome

1st uninstall XBMC from Android Settings >> Apps (You will lose all your XBMC settings)

Next, download the Gotham 13.1 update from here -> http://www.datafilehost.com/d/b703a710 Before clicking "Download", untick the "Use our download manager and get recommended downloads" option

Copy the apk to a USB flash drive, insert it into the MX and install using the app installer (under applications)

Done!

i have the CS918 from AVSupply and have been happily using it since april.

Just want to say that the support and help from AVSupply is amazing!
Fast, reliable, and i have this awesome little droid which just works!

The remote i bought (The MX3) is a little fidley but it does the job.

Thanks AVSupply!

Thanks Luckmeister :)

A litte tip for the MX3 remote that might save you some XBMC Mouse frustration. Pressing the cursor disable button for 3 seconds will disable the mouse cursor until you press the button again. Pressing it once will only disable it until the remote wakes from a sleep.

Let me know if you need assistance with Infra-red learning?

Take care
