The Droid TV thread

I d/l the apk but app installer can't find the apk.
If I use es explorer to search for the file and click on the file I get error "there was a problem parsing the file" ??WTF am I doing wrong?

Hi Silkman

Can I suggest you try the factory version?

Open Applications >> OTA update, and click the XBMC icon to download XBMC

First uninstall the version that's on your box

Cool. Just checking. Redoing my entire network / MySQL thing today since something went funky yesterday for some reason.
So updating XBMC on PC's to 13.2 as well. Updated FW on Droid TV to the newer Beta.

PS, how does this one differ as I can't find much info on it?

Something else you should consider is the cronicorrey Gotham release, as they have always been very stable, available here -> https://goo.im/devs/CronMod/MX_LINUX...REF-update.zip

His previous release was rock solid, and I imagine that one is too

ok so I deleted the previous apk and installed th one Phrozin suggested. (Didn't try the OTA update as I left Phrozin's suggested version to d/l while I was sleeping).
It opens find but I get error "superuser denied to dvbservice"- I do remember an app notification to update Superuser (dunno what that is).
Gonna ignore that message for now and try to run xbmc

Assume that means it needs root to do it's work. Definitely update SU - it's an app in the play store, just go to play store, click at the top left menu and go to 'my apps' and you should have an opportunity to update SU there. You might need to start again with the XBMC install, not sure.

Videos not showing correctly with the new version of XBMC. It's off centre or very small or very zoomed in.
I set my video settings view mode to Original size, zoom amount 1.00, pixel ratio 1.0
Steroscopic mode Auto

When I view the same movie on my laptop its fine but on xbmc I'm only seeing a part of the image.

The XBMC screens itself are displaying fine - it's only when you play a movie
Edit: Messed around with settings and got video to show correctly by deselcting Hardware acceleration options.
Now the problems HD movies stutter all the time!
SD plays fine
Came across this link

But don't know if I should reinstall AGAIN!

Hi Silkman

What version did you end up installing?

Thanks

HD was stuttering with the version Phrozin suggested (oman)

Now just installed the OTA like you advised.
But there's no option to add files from a Windows Network.
Only options are:
HD Homerun
NFS
ReplayTV devices
Root file system
SAP Streams
Upnp

So I can't get to my videos :(
6 hours of trying to get this xbmc to work and still no luck

Copied a HD movie onto a flash drive to test and tried to play it - no picture.

When did you start noticing issues with XBMC, was it after installing another application or have you moved the box to another TV?

Has it always been like this?

Thanks

Does the MX 3 play external hard drives that are self powered and outlet powered? This includes both 2.5 and 3.5 Drives?

In case this may help others in future:
I've been having endless issues with XBMC- videos not playing, HD movies stuttering, no picture, picture flowing off screen etc.
So far I've tired the reinstalling various versions of XMBX- oman's build, stock factory build, and 2 other ones.
1 ore more issues persist.
As avsupply suggested I've now loaded updated firmware for my mx2 and will try that.

For any of you having doubts about buying from Avsupply- They are awesome. They've helped me through all the issues and customer service great!
Now if only XBMC had customer support like that

Edit: videos so far playing fine with new firmware.
There's no playstore in this firmware. I skipped setting up the initial launch with my gmail account and now cannot add it from Android settings. If I click on Add Account- nothing happens.
Unfortunately unable to load any other apps without playstore.

Hi silkman

You need to install the google apps manually

Follow the same recovery procedure after downloading this file -> http://matriserver.com/firmware/matricom-gapps-jb-signed-v3.zip

@silkman: I hope that you get your XBMC sorted! Are you using XBMC for streaming purposes or just for playing content off a hard drive etc.? If you haven't been exiting XBMC properly in the past, it might be a good idea to do so once you have everything running again. You need to press the Power button (or use the Power menu) before leaving XBMC to avoid possibly corrupting files when you turn off your machine. You need to do this with most XBMC installations. When you have some free time, try to post a few pics of your projector setup if possible.

@Icemanbrfc: I think that most of the Amlogic S802 units can support hard drives up to 4TB. I think you will have far fewer problems with an external hard drive that has its own power supply. The latest portable 2.5" USB 3.0 drives may require as much as 1A which means that you will need to use both of your USB ports to supply enough current to the drive. This means that you will need to add an externally powered hub so that you can connect other devices to your MXIII which could complicate matters.

After looking at the latest reviews I have decided to order an MXIII for myself as it appears to be one of the best devices currently on the market. This is one of the latest Amlogic S802 models to be released in China. The design seems to be very innovative with a power switch on the top of the case. It comes highly recommended by AVSupply and includes some of the best customisation that I have seen on one of these devices. I will try to test the machine thoroughly and post my results as soon as it arrives. If you want any more information just post again and I will try to help where I can.

The unit in this video is very similar to the MXIII (the AVS customised MXIII looks much better though!). You can see some closeup shots of the case. This model has an external antenna, RF game controller and 2GB RAM which the MXIII does not. The graphics seem awesome in that game at 6:09!

AVS customised interface with the latest NF, H+, YT apps preinstalled!

Thanks Yotch.. that concerns me a bit though, as i have a few 2.5" self powered drives that has no issues with either WD or Mede8er player, without the need for additional power.

Hopefully Av supply can provide further details?

I've tested two different brand 2.5" drives on the MXIII, and they both worked perfectly

Thanks, that sounds great then. :-) Glad about that, as i will mainly be using the player for a bit of streaming, but mostly via external
