The Droid TV thread

Version 1 of the firmware and that impressed already? Awesome :)

Glad you like the box, now get that HDTV and be even more blown away!!!
Thanks again AVSupply. I am really loving the box and will be keeping an eye open for a decent HDTV. Once again many thanks for all your assistance.

@prasanv: AVSupply is the right person to speak to about the firmware and the XBMC installation. The backgrounds, icons and skins etc. really look very nice. I am working on getting some screenshots from various streaming services to post. Some of the apps like YouTube work extremely well on this box. I can now understand why many people are replacing their HTPCs with this latest generation of devices. The device is so small, uses so little power, boots up so quickly and integrates so well with an air mouse that I think it would be difficult to get the same functionality from a PC.

Hi All,

I recently got an M8 and am wondering if there is anyway to transfer data from my PC to my external connected to the M8? I have a automated sickbeard setup and currently I have to disconnect my HD, move to PC, copy, and then back to M8. If anyone has a solution to this I would be forever grateful!

Secondly, is there a way to switch off the blue light?

Thanks a mil!!

Hi funkdoobie,

Download SambaDroid from google play and share your external HDD. You will then be able to map the network drive on your PC and move your media over.

@funkdoobie: You could also try this method. The commander interface splits the screen vertically in half and you can drag files to and from the M8 from your PC. You don't need to set up Windows file sharing to use this method.

You can also look at this guide on how to share Windows files and use ES File Explorer.

Let us know if you are still having trouble.

Regarding switching off blue light, the only way is to put it in sleep with supplied remote. I mapped that button to the configurable infraRed button on my Mx3 airmouse from AVsupply;)

Awesome, thanks a mil guys, I will give all the methods a go this weekend and feedback with how it went. Also, LOOOOL, at the tape, I think I might just do that, my lounge is very dark, as it should be, haha, and the light is qquite brutal.

Thanks a mil guys, much appreciated!!

SO ...

Before i dive in: i would like to say thanks to AVSupply for the awesome service. I will definitely be coming back for my tech fix :)

Overall impression of the device: ... it makes my Roku 3 look like child's play. Don't get me wrong i love the Roku but the MX3 just takes it to another level. I believe the main reason for that will be xbmc and the fact that its android. I am using deezer on the box. I dont have to connect my phone to play my music.

So i got it Wednesday morning and i couldn't wait till i got home to try it out. plugged it in and boom: i was ready to use plex. I tried the sports devil sports streaming and the quality wasn't so great but that was resolved an hour later.

I am still going through the thread: page 18 of 58, long way to go. I however have few questions.

1: i am planning on plugin my 2TB HD on the box and have download my series and movies automatically. that way i can cancel my hulu+ subscription. Is this possible ?

2: I have tried sportsdevil on my 5MB line from bitco and i am not really pleased with the quality. Is there a difference, with regards to the quality between the free skysport channels and those from Ntv. i haven't subscribed yet to NTV and they told me they don't have trial accounts

3: On Nova launcher, the icons on the main screen at the bottom, how do i replace those icons with the one i use the most.

4: How do i close all running applications, I press home and open xbmc but deezer is still playing on the background.

Ohh: Can i get a better remote. The one that i dont have to point to the device for it to work and its not so loud

Avsupply, any news on that update?

Hi Hazelbag

I made changes to the latest beta release but they've done something that prevents the old launcher from working

My only enhancements were graphical and adding the old launcher back, but it's proving too difficult for me to continue. If anything changes with future firmwares, I'll attempt my mods again.

Ao can i use the update from matricom?

Yes, it works 100%

Get the 1.2.2 beta and install the google apps after

Look back a few pages for the links I sent to silkman

@NCN: The MXIII is an awesome product!

Hulu is FREE on this box. You will probably need to upgrade the current app from 2.13.1.201557 to either 2.14 or 2.15 though as the free service is a recent innovation. Let me know if you need any help. Both Hulu and Hulu Plus work very well on this box due to the very snappy quad core processor.

Regarding the Nova launcher I just click on the Plus sign and then toggle the tick marks on the apps to get them to appear on the bar at the bottom so that I can launch them. I will also try AVS's suggestion.

On the DroidTV in the Developer Options in the Settings Menu there is an option to limit the number of background processes that are running. You could possibly try that. Just checked -I don't see this option on the MXIII!

I couldn't live without my T2 air mouse. Another excellent option!

How does this http://www.avsupply.co.za/product_in...ith-xbmc-p-641 compare to the MXIII?

Also how much better is the 2gb version you are getting in?

I want to use this device to connect to my HP Micro server (in the lounge) from my bedroom and continue watching a show on XBMC. Entire home is wifi enabled.

The KitKat release has really Supercharged the Q7's interface, but XBMC development is a little slower on the Rockchip chipset. For a wireless only network, the Q7 is the better option with its external WiFi antenna. Do you plan on streaming SD or HD content?

If you prefer the look of the MXIII, the 1GB version without Bluetooth is R1200, and the 2GB with Bluetooth is R1500. Both MXIIIs have 8GB storage

We'll have the 2GB version on Monday but will only ship them on Tuesday after upgrading the firmare and running a few tests

@NightCrawlerNic: If you're still watching Suits and Covert Affairs you can also try www.usdrama.net from the preloaded web browser - just choose the link for browsers that don't support flash. You may need to sign up for a free account.

Here is a comparison of the latest content on the free Hulu vs usdrama services.

Cmon Jaque this sounds all so confusing lol. If I buy, can I just plug and play? What is all the mod talk, repositories etc is there a sports channel somewhere?
