The Droid TV thread

@Hemps I blame heating issues on bad design. It can be controlled by kernel or ventelation. But its not acceptable for me. 40 degc is still pretty awesome.

Tested last night again, according to XBMC temp was 92c.
I felt device and although it was warm it didn't feel like 92c but rather 30c.
Internals will differ to enclosure i know.

Any Droid or Android box lovers here on AXXESS ISP? I want to know of their DNS services eliminates the need for Unotelly? Thanks!

@JvanD: You can try these PlaymoTV addresses, 214.5.182.127 213.5.182.117 or jsheed's local service 154.127.60.71. You could also use one of the two week free trials from SmartDNSProxy, Trickbyte, SmartyDNS, Getflix and renew using a different e-mail address after they expire.

Here is a review with links to most of the current commerical DNS Proxy services ...

You can also try the free Beta services mentioned above - DNSEraser, DNS4me, What24 etc.

@Yotch, thanks, I might be moving ISPs so I want to know if I can use the AXXESS DNS suite without my Unotelly account on my droid. Unsure if it will work, don't want t move if it doesn't work. Thanks :-)

@Yotch, dunno for sure, as I saw it on their site earlier today still ... Weird stuff indeed.

What temp do you guys get on your DroidTV, Im hitting 162 degree Fahrenheit so 60 degrees celsius when left on for 30min + playing SD content.
After about an hour of streaming on my Minix X8H the cpu temperature was 54 deg C, using the CpuTemp app. I don't have the latest XBMC, but it shows 86 deg F and does not change, so cpu temperature is obviously not active in this version of XBMC.

@balky: Which app are you using Temp+ CPU or CPU Temp Pure - I can't find a CPU Temp Plus? Temp+ CPU seems to be for batteries. I see that the paid version has a CPU temp indication.

Yotch, in the app section it's called CpuTemp, but when you open the app it's heading is CpuTempPlus. It's a free app. In Google Play it's called "Cpu Temperature".

Hi guys! Has anyone tried Hulu Plus on their S802 tv box yet? Also how is the quality and app experience?

Yes, watched Hulu Plus for 2.5 hours on Friday night. The quality is apparently 720X480 but the picture looks pretty good to me and it streams smoothly which isn't always the case with H+ on some devices. The Hulu/Hulu Plus app works much better on the MXIII than on my Roku HD as the 2GHz quad core S802 is much faster than the single core 400MHz BCM7218 processor in my Roku. You can get the latest 2.14 and 2.15 versions of the app over here amongst others. If you want to use the free Hulu service you need to install either 2.14 or 2.15.

Thanks Yotch, I'll be giving it a go. Any ideas why I get a black screen when playing content?

Ah okay, got it working, working quite cool, might sign up for it. Thanks Yotch.

By the way guys, the Hulu plus app on firetv is so horrifically unstable that it is unusable. Am back to using my Chromecast for now
