Hmm... how is that different to sponsoring a prize for a 'MyBB' competition? Just curious - seems that's allowed...

According to rpm, the mods won't allow it. Too many scams from past competitions

@Avsupply.

Got my MX3 and its working great straight away.

I've notice a big of a lag in the GUI and i think that is because on only 1 processor is active most of the time. Is there CPU Frequency / governer patch for the version installed?

@iru786: I also recently obtained an MXIII and I must say it has been working very well for me. What are you using to control the device (IR remote, air mouse, wireless keyboard etc.)? I can't say that I've noticed any lag on mine.

@Yotch....Using the standard remote that came with it. After installing CPU-Z i noticed that only first CPU is active majory of the time and 2nd CPU only kicks in occassionaly... The other cores does not kick in

@iru786: You need to get an air mouse if you want the best performance from this device. Android is designed for touchscreens so you will struggle to use the IR remote easily on most apps. An air mouse will completely change your experience. Most customers don't bother with the IR remote.

Hi iru

If you referring to the coloured MediaBox launcher, it's a known "sluggish" issue which has been addressed in the more recent version

Why am I not including the latest version with the box? The music category has been removed and replaced with a memory utility, and there is an annoying weather infobox at the top of the launcher. There is also a text colour issue on some of the child items

As soon as v2 of the new update is released, I'll let everyone know :)

@iru786: I haven't heard anybody mention this before. Personally I think it has the best UI that I've ever used on a media player. I'll look around to see if any other customers have raised this issue. Here are some of the latest Amazon reviews ...

@ Yotch,
Dont get me wrong... I had M8 & Q7 as well and this box seems to be performing better than them. Also the default UI is much smoother than others.
But i would still like all the cores to fire up to give much snappier experience as i can see the cpu load going up to 60% on the single core before the 2nd core kicks in.... Might be just the case of changing the governer to OnDemand or Conservative

From the boot image

on boot
write /sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu0/cpufreq/scaling_max_freq 1608000
write /sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu0/cpufreq/scaling_min_freq 96000
write /sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu0/cpufreq/scaling_governor hotplug

What do you want your min & max frequencies + governor to be set at?

About the stock remote? Anyone else having problems with it? My cousin's seems to only work when it's pointed to the exact corner of the box where the receiver is. Very frustrating trying to use it, so I just told them to use iPhone xbmc remote in the meantime.

Is this a known problem?

The general consensus seems to be that most (if not all) of the IR remotes on the android media players are not very useful. The experience can be compared to using the cursor keys to navigate on a Windows laptop - it can be done but it gets very frustrating. You need something that can easily move around and select on the screen. I have the T2 air mouse which works extremely well but there are other options (MX3 and Mele F10 Pro) with a mini keyboard. I also have a Rii type mini keyboard with a trackpad which I hardly use now except in emergencies as it is not really suited to swiping and dragging etc.

EDIT: If he has a normal desktop/laptop wireless mouse he could also try that.

I am familiar with the general clunkiness of these bundled remotes, but this one doesnt work at all unless you point in exact direction of the receiver, a few degrees out and nothing registers. My question is if this is normal, because as it is the device is unusable with the bundled remote?

Open it up and check where the infrared sensor is sitting. If its too recessed, the case of the unit may actually be blocking off the signal, and reducing the angle (it's a very line of sight technology.)

If you can move the sensor forward a bit, might solve your problem....especially easy If the sensor is soldered on and has long legs.

Please note: am an electronics guy, so be careful what you do. Unless you are used to soldering do not put too much pressure on any component

Edit: do this with the remote and the unit....preferably in that order...testing if you make any changes
