You making my heart melt Jaque lolThat's very Iceman of you![]()
Quick question, can Android/XBMC play content directly of a network location? I am running a Raspberry Pi with XBMC now and I play everything of a microserver, mostly 720p. So if the DroidTV can do that on top of all the other features, I am sold.
Looks like you're sold! That's how the majority of us play our content![]()

Awesome! Payday is on Friday, so expect another order rolling in by then!!
EDIT: Yotch convinced me to move past the SD Netflix issue.![]()
on a serious note J, lets say i have 2 drives plugged into the MXQ. However, i would like to copy content off the one drive to the other, can i do this. If not, how can i do this, without having to run for the pc? on my PS3 using Multiman, i can move or copy from the one drive to the other, so just wondering
Thanks
Only 1 issue, we still waiting for the new batch to arrive, should have them by next week
if you were considering an MXQ, they are in stock

EsFile Explorer will enable to you copy content to and from drives
I ordered a MXQ for my parents, will test with that in the mean time (when Dawn Wing wakes up), but I think I will hold out for the MXIII for myself
@heartbroken
Netflix looks really good on my MX III - I'm currently moving away from my 55" inch screen and upgrading to either 65" or 70" inches in December. The results will be the same on the majority of new HDTV's as upscalling works great on the MXIII and MXQ models. Its Amlogic GPU so upscalling should work great along side your HDTV.
That being said streaming in HD takes more bandwith.
Netflix quality settings and or impact on your DSL is confirmed below:
Good quality - up to 0.3 GB per hour
Better quality - up to 0.7 GB per hour
Best quality - up to 1 GB and or 2.3 GB per hour for HD
I run at "Better quality" setting on Netflix and it looks awesome.
Have fun![]()
Yes, you should be able to do exactly what you were doing before on the Raspberry Pi. The quad core S802 processor in the MXIII should be as much as 8 times faster than the BCM2835 in the RPi so I'm sure that you will notice big improvements in many areas.
You may need to provide a few hours of training for your parents to get the most out of the player but this should result in a substantial saving in their monthly entertainment costs. The latest blockbuster movies and shows like Game of Thrones, Gotham, The Big Bang Theory, Two and a Half Men, The Voice, Dancing with the Stars etc. will probably never appear on Netflix so it's definitely worthwhile learning to use some of the other services. The free Hulu service normally only stores the three latest episodes of a current series so they will have to watch the shows on a regular basis. Hulu has a large collection of shows like the Amazing Race and Larry King Now which were quite popular on SABC.
Did you order an air mouse with your unit?
Post again if you need any assistance or need suggestions for any new services.
sent you a PMThe Raspberry Pi cannot be accused of being fast :erm: And running raspbmc is quite limiting, the lack of a browser pi$$3$ me off.
I think I am going to load Netflix and the free Hulu app for them to keep them busy through December and to give them some training. But I think in the end Netflix might go the way of the dodo.
I have a keyboard\trackpad similar to the iPazzPort Pro Mini i was hoping to give them. I am definitely getting an air mouse with my order
EDIT: On that note, which mouse do you suggest, the MeLE F10 Pro looks quite snazzy?

Have fun.. dont worry too much about NetflixHaving gone through all the info Yotch posted, I think I am only going to use Netflix for those sleepy Sunday afternoons, were you only want some background noise to drown out the neighbors shouting kids. I am convinced that there is enough other services out there to make up for or even replace SD Netflix.
At my parents house they only have a 4mb line and a 40" TV so the SD quality will actually be perfect and coming from SABC, it will be awesome for them
