The Droid TV thread

Thanks, I'll check with Jaque if it will work with both a 3.5 and a 2.5 drive. If It does, then I think I'll get one of those from him as I need the extra ports

You can turn the connected devices on and off using the switches which makes this hub much better than most of the other types. You'll have to take your drives over and test though.

@Keeper I don't think the size of the drive is an issue. The issue is with how much the Android OS can detect. Having said that there is usually room to partition the hard drive into separate partitions. The biggest drive on Android that I have read about does 3TB ... At least that's what they claim to do.

Could just be sales ploy an example is like the majority of devices on the market that swears high and low that their unit supports 3D ISO ... When you as the consumer check its either in development or totally different like 3D Side by side or Over and Under ...

Just a tit bit, most people report buffering issues on Netflix. If you have, do you get this on Wifi. If answer "Yes" , check if problem persists on ethernet cable to establish that it's not a wifi issue rather than software related. If ethernet resolves the issue, then establish if your wifi can actually transmit @ 300mb/ps which is ideal, rather than 150mb/ps.
Remember (this is more for the M8 boxes) that they use a type of tinfoil aerial that doesn't give strong signal and get a lot of interference. I got it on my M8 when playing online and streaming. Ethernet resolved it for me.
Here you can see some of the inards of these boxes:

I never had buffering issues as it streams very good on SD @ 640x480 - 1350kbps . So problems I did experience was only due to trying to stream on wifi (even had trouble on Xbmc), thats my 2c

Hope it helps:)

So here is my morning so far ... guess what I'm doing?

Hehe

You are correct, Netflix works on the LAN but not wifi. However on my box I can stream everything else on wifi, youtube (at 1080), xbmc from local shares (at 720) and hulu (who knows what res, looks like HD) all works. I have full signal on the wifi. Downloading is also super fast.

I still need to test the different versions of Netflix, but I think the problem is with their app somewhere.

@heartbroken: The WiFi performance on the MXQ should be slightly better than on the MXIII. The S805 was also supposed to support Gigabit ethernet but this does not seem to have been implemented.

Hulu should work really well on the MXQ. I have streamed continuously for more than 5 hours on my MXIII without a single glitch. In the past my Roku has crashed several times while streaming from Hulu Plus. I am sure that the Netflix problems will be resolved very soon. I rarely bother with Netflix since there are so many better alternatives on these devices.

I agree, there is definitely nothing wrong with the wireless in the device - everything from web browsing to downloads to streaming, all work flawlessly on the MXQ. It's rather fast too, indexing my local files took almost no time at all on wifi.

To be honest the only reason I want Netflix is for my parents, I want to give them a large, on demand library of things to watch. But it has to be stable, I can't see them fiddling around with things to get going. What I am considering now is instead of buying another MXQ/MXIII for myself, just to keep this one and get them something else, exclusively for Netflix. Or if the LAN works consistently I will just run some new cables for them and be done with it.

Still need to test with the other versions - hopefully I can get to it tonight, just need to do some gardening first, sigh.

Got my Tronsmart Mars G01 remote from AvSupply.

2. Build quality is pretty good and feels like a Xbox 360 controller.
3. Battery life is exceptional and can be charged via USB.
4. Some Android games work good, others I'm trying to figure out.
5. Can be used on PC and PS3
