There will be no difference

@silkman Are you not using a powered external USB hard drive? If that's the problem I agree with the guys ... I bought a powered enclosure for 250 bucks as I had problems with non powered USB drives that sporadically loses the hard drive, spinning up and down and freezing the unit when I watch content. This was one of the best moves I made, thinking back and spared me lots of frustration.
um im the other way around though strangely enough pal. My powered drive i lose sporadically, but my 2.5 inch self powered i have no issues with holding. im getting buffering issues with my powered drive, but not sure if my drive is failing me or what
Running MxLinux on my DroidTV ATV400 - where/what do I do to enable the onboard wifi?
There should be a WiFi app under programs
I've got a weird issue the past few days when I try to watch a movie
when I try to watch a movie from XBMC the picture displays zoomed and off center. Is like the movie is divided into four quarters and you are watching the first quadrant.
I need to restart the machine a couple of times before it plays correctly.
This is a new issue- what is causing this?

Yip-tried changing the resolution yesterday and it doesn't help. I haven't upgraded anything - unless it autoupdates (I don't know).
How can we solve this?

I don't know what else to do.
Ok bro here's where I am with my unit:
Tried the toothpick method. It rebooted and the options for display were available again.
If I turn the unit off after that, it sometimes doesn't switch on at all. It may show a picture every 3-4 times even though the blue light is on (it's not the cable as the cable works fine with DSTV and the same thing happens with other cables).
When it did stay on, I wanted to test my HDD as I bought a powered USB hub ( http://www.bidorbuy.co.za/item/161410956/USB_2_0_Powered_Hub_4_Port_USB_Hub.html as you suggested.
The unit does not recognize the hdd from the hub. The hub is working fine as I tested it.
Besides the new issue of not staying powered on and not being able able to watch movies because of the display resolution issues, so far to get the unit to recognize my HDD, I have:
- reinstalled firmware twice
- reinstalled XBMC twice.
-Purchased different usb cables, including Y- cables
- tried different hard drives of different brands
- tried 3 different power supplies
- purchased a powered usb hub
And nothing seems to resolve the problem. I've spent about R350 on the additional cables, hub etc which did not solve the issue.
I appreciate your assistance over these months trying to solve the issue but surely after all these attempts the unit can be replaced?
I use other apps- I've loaded the 1.16 before and that didn't help.
Yes, the same issue when I removed the HDMI switch- you suggested I do that before.
Had the projector installer come in and test with his mede8r and its works 100% with and without the HDMI switch.
If you guys feel I am being unreasonable for expecting a replacement unit after all this, please tell me.
I have placed this posting on other forums to get a feel of what other guys would do in my situation and as of now every single reply has been that the unit should've been replaced.
I am comfortable that I have done more than what is reasonable to get the unit working.
Bottom line is that it doesn't work as advertised and your supplier should credit you as well. It's just a faulty unit dude.
