So I got received my mygica atv582 today, set it up and installed dstv now and showmax.

The dstv now app tells me the device is not supported and I cant stream anything, why would this be as I was under the impression that this device can be used with dstv now?

The showmax app has audio but no display, I did read about changing something in this thread but I dont know if it is rooted or not, is there a work around for this?

I have the atv582 running the slightly modified firmware from avsupply and dstv now works without any issues. The box does report itself as a nexus 10 in the about section so not sure if that has anything to do with it? You can check what firmware version you have and see how it compares on the Mygica forum here http://www.mygicasupport.com/viewforum.php?f=71&sid=7985a57c25989e8a7d1d702c7ba67d7f or pop in at mbox.co.za and see if you can get the avsupply firmware there.

I did have a look at mbox.co.za but for some reason I can not find the AVSupply firmware. Will you possibly be able to post a link?
 
Why not ping JvanD (also active on mbox) or AvSupply (they are not selling the atv582 anymore).

It's up to Showmax to fix the quality and device compatibility of their app.
Nothing you can do.

The fact that Netflix doesn't work in HD on Android boxes and you can only use an old Netflix app, makes Showmax more appealing.
They just have to fix their buggy app to work on more devices.

To get showmax working on AMLogic devices follow the instructions of Phrozin here
It will fix the black screen problem when video is playing.

PS: I don't think AVSuppy will share their version of their firmware provided that you bought the box from them but that's up to them to disclose their stance.

@SL1V3R The reason for the Nexus 10 in the build prop was to provide for more app compatibility in the beginning ... have a look at the Finless Bob Roms for AML and some of the other fw.

The build looks like this if you have upgraded successfully

I have some more android tv boxes for sale ! These come pre-loaded with kodi addons . You can just open kodi and it will ask you to setup kodi with addons ,then it will install all the main addons like phoenix etc

If you value your business, I would suggest you remove those addons from your boxes immediately

I can say with absolute confidence that they are illegal, and will result in you having an unpleasant experience with the law

The client has the option to install them ,once you open KODI ,you can setup kodi with addons or without addons. The first batch of tv boxes ,there was no option to do so.

By default these addons are not installed .

If it's the standard install of Kodi, you're fine, but if you make it easy to install the addons (wizards, etc.), you aiding them, which is an offence

I am not aiding them ,that's how I receive them from the supplier. I honestly don't even know how to install kodi ,never done so in my life.

Ain't the addons legal ,but content you use inside the addons illegal ? Definitely not telling people to go and stream illegal content ,some people are advertising this as dstv replacements. Some addons only shows you the weather which is legal I presume.

The majority of addons aren't illegal, but why take a chance?

The authorities in the matter aren't going to give a warning or offer any advice, so it's best to just assume that everything is illegal

If the boxes come pre-loaded from the factory, ask them to send you a clean firmware (if possible). If they can't, try one of the MXQ ROMS on the mbox forum

Hopefully the next batch are clean installs. I will just clean install kodi on the current batch ,by selecting not installing the addons. The the clients can then install what they want afterwards manually.
 
Has anyone got further info on the fact that DSTV Now app for Android has changed from Device Already registered to suddenly saying Device not currently supported. I have an Xtreamer Wonder device running KitKat with latest device Firmware.?

You need to take that up with the Xtreamer support folks. The only box that works on DSTV now is the MG582. Might be due to the fact that it's GMS certified, XtreamerAdmin answered in response to my post about it that theirs is not a mobile device and they will not embark on Google certification. Might be that Xtreamer uses a generic ID from AMLogic like 98% of the manufacturers out there.
