Best to avoid any MXQ devices.
They have no manufacturer with direct support or firmware updates behind them.
But the RK3299 chipset is great for the video codecs it supports.
Better to wait for a better manufacturer that sells them.
The RK3399 chipset will be even more powerful.

I seem to have bricked my MX2.

I had ember on it but it wouldn't connect to my plex server.

So I downloaded the file on embers site to go back to the android version and it failed to update the firmware and gave me a black screen. I tried a guide on xda but it does not work.

Can someone here please help me with this? @avsupply @xbmcfan or anyone else?

I have saved my MX2 from a similar situation. It was a pretty long process. I listed the steps somewhere back in this thread. Will try find it later.

I'm on the latest from AVSupply, just waiting for them to release their take on the latest firmware. Much prefer theirs over the MyGica firmware.

Thanks for all the info, it works fine as long as you adjust the volume on the AVR and not on the MG582 whenever it's running on pass-through. Luckily my amp has a blue light come on whenever it's decoding so the household has been informed of the potential disaster.

I also always come back to the AVSupply firmware. It's just way better IMHO than the Mygica firmware.

Lol ... No I won't I have been out of it for awhile ... Have a fully working lollipop 5.02 on my ATV1800. Runs like a dream ... If I would have to guess anything along the lines of a S812 SOC but local is going to be tough to source.

MyGica 582 with a Rii Mini remote, it's the only one I've experienced but does everything you need EXCEPT H.265 vids. The stock remote is also beyond ****. Latest update makes it fully play store compatible and takes it to Lollipop so there's no issues with DRM so DSTV/SS/Showmax/Netflix will all work.

My 582 plays H. 264 videos no problem

Its not super fast ,bet gets the job done .

I use mine daily for 1080p tv series and movies via kodi .

Through the dstv app does not work ,but showmax does with a change in the config file.

It definitely not sluggish ,but not as fast as kodi on my i7 desktop

Only that one for now ,probably won't order anymore stock ,because of the exchange rate
