The Droid TV thread

So....uninstalled, cleared data, cleared cache
Did so for ShowMax V.3, V.5, V.6

All do the black screen and sound only thing:mad:
Interesting though, when I did the preview play on a show I got some java.lang.xxxxxxx exception error :erm:
But playing the full episode is audio only.
What did the new app change?

Think I'll re-flash with the rom I got from Jacques back in the day...

How can I unbrick MXQ-4K RK3229 Rockchip device?

Changed /system/build.prop MXQ-4K RK3229 Rockchip box and now device only boots to android screen, but can still boot to recovery menu. Tried to flash firmware with SD card, LED turns from blue to red but nothing happens. Windows 10 does not recognize device via USB, tried various drivers. Device was rooted.

Any suggestions please?

No, because companies like etv want all the digital tv signals to be encrypted.
If that happens only the set top boxes with decryption keys will be able to play all the digital tv channels back.
So we must all hope unencrypted signals will b used and etv loses all their court cases then tv boxes like these will still be able to be used.

Thanks. Did not know.

Then again who watches etv when you have an Android TV box :p

So this was posted in the hardware bargains thread.
Anybody know anything about this brand? I'm looking for an Android box that does hardware H265. But I don't need it desperately. My Pi3 is serving me well at the moment.

Ok, late to the game on this thread. What is the current recommendation for and Android Box?

I tried streaming on my old S4 with android 5.1, the app works but once I start a stream it doesnt connect. I saw a few posts that suggested the app doesnt work on certain boxes, was wondering what criteria I should look out for.

I'm struggling to find a decent box to purchase, reading through the hardware section in the Kodi forum, guys there seem to think WeTek devices are quite reliable. The Nvidia shield is also an option, but its so expensive.

Hi guys, can anyone assist me with some info on Kodi compatibility on the following tablet :
Telefunken TEL1013GIQA. It is currently on promotion at Game for R999 and I was looking to pick one up for my dad. His eyesight is starting to deteriorate and he struggles to watch programs on tv. If he can get the screen closer to his eyes it will help him a lot.
The tab runs a mtk8382 arm cortex-a7 quad core processor if that will help. I've seen / heard that some chipsets aren't compatible and I don't want to go through all the trouble if it won't work.

It can only run Kodi 16 or older, not the upcoming Kodi 17 that only works on Lollipop or Marshmallow firmware since it runs KitKat.
I think only certain video formats in Kodi will be hardware accelerated at 720p and 1080p will be a hit and miss.
The resolution is also not great, so the screen might look a bit blurry.
Why not get a a dual-boot Intel tablet?
But it should do the basics and work.

I think it should be okay, but you might want to load videos that are not heavy, and that will load but struggle to play.

Anything specific on Kodi you going to play? Will it be videos locally stored on the tablet?

Screenshot_2016-08-28-17-36-33.jpg It looks like it does run Lollipop.
It will be a mixed bag between files stored on local storage, networked storage and streaming over adsl.
