It is already the stable version.
You can basically just change the version in this file https://github.com/JamesLinEngineer/RKMC/blob/Jarvis/version.txt and build your own Kodi.
You can also unpack the app with an Android apk decompiler and just change that file if the message bothers you.

You can see there are only 2 differences Kodi 16.1 has namely the version number change and cuesheet that RKMC 16.1 doesn't have compared to all the extra changes RKMC Kodi has to improve playback.

If you install a different Kodi you will loose lots of optimizations like HD Audio, 3D, auto frame-rate switching and smooth 4K playback.

If you want, you can also try Kodi 17 beta 2 with added dts/ac3 pass-through support for RK3229 if you don't use the other features.

Has anybody got Netflix working in HD on the Mygica ATV582?

I just bought two of them and so far I'm very unimpressed coming from a Roku world :(

Not possible, 720x480 resolution is the maximum you will get for Netflix.
Only Roku, Nvidia Shiled, Amazon Fire, basically American devices can get HD Netfix.

Problem 2: Google Certification

Let’s get the easier one out of the way first.

Back in 2010, Google bought a small company called Widevine in order to beef up its on-demand video services and prevent video piracy. Widevine had existing agreements with several companies, including Netflix and VUDU, which are still in place today.

In order to support 1080p HD resolution for video streaming apps like YouTube and Netflix, a manufacturer has got to be Google certified in one of the Widevine DRM (Digital Rights Management) levels.

I say this is the easier of the two certifications because much (but not all) of this is done at the chipset level, so the work is already taken care of by Amlogic or Rockchip. Manufacturers only have to enable it, in order to pass this criteria.

Only a select few. Note that Samsung smart devices (tv's and bluray players) do stream NF in full HD. Funnily enough apparently Hisense smart TV's also do.
 
Ok, so I have tried a couple applications but can't do what I want.

Can anyone recommend a program, that can run full-time in the background on Android, to share media content over the LAN? I don't want to use stuff like airdroid which requires an account. XBMC needs to be open for the uPNP stuff to work (have tried this, as soon as the kids switch to Youtube, I loose connectivity to uPNP from my tablet).

An alternative method, if you have a PC / NAS would be to share from there to your Android box and everything else - I use Emby, altho you can go Plex etc. as well.

Since our house runs on solar energy, I did away with energy hungry PC's and NAS's. My Minix 5 NEO draws a couple watts and has a 2TB HDD attached to it. So I want to use this as is, just getting an app that can play along nicely. My other option is / was to replace it with a Raspberry Pi but Android does have a couple other nice apps which Linux doesn't have.

By the way guys, Mygica support tell me the box will stream Netflix 4.4 but it seems support has no clue what they are talking about, because I see in the forums that it does not work. I will have to return the two boxes I just purchased.

There is a compiled app for generic android boxes. As long as they have widevine like your boxes it will play 1080p but sound will be 2 channel

If you spec it right, those aren't very power hungry, especially if you set them to power off when not in use and use WOL to power them up when you need them. I'm running a Mini-ITX based server and it doesn't seem to have made a difference to my electricity bill (only way I have of measuring it's power use at the moment).

You not going to get to 5W, no matter what you do with that ITX.

It doesn't work. The support forum can't even get Android 5.1 working properly, and they appear to have given up trying to get Netflix certification for HD. I've returned the boxes and going back to Roku's

Well I guess you gotta decide where your priorities lie. I'm far more concerned with my media serving solution than I am with power savings.
 
I have two android boxes, the addon works on my downstairs box and on the other box the addon says "Error check log"... Even though it's from the same source and addon... Many addons are Givin me this issue. Any fix to this?

Then delete Kodi on the box that doesn't work and start from scratch.
It can also be the Android box that doesn't support the video formats you are trying to play or it's connection is acting up.
What 'illegal' addons are you trying to use that give so much problems?

I used Bubble UPnP installed on my Mygica in my bedroom, and was able to share media on a hard drive connected to the box to all my other devices (android phones, PC, laptop, samsung smart tv and PS3). Unfortunately the hard drive made an irritating sound not conducive to a good night's sleep, so I had to remove it. I now have it connected to an MXQ Pro box in my lounge, but I see Bubble UPnP is no longer free (R53). If I was sure that it would work as it previously did on the Mygica I would pay that in a heartbeat, but for now I want to see if there isn't another free app that can do the job.
