The Droid TV thread

Out of curiosity, when I'm watching Dstv now, it will often go the screen saver, any way to turn this off?
Look under settings, Display, Day Dream I think it is. For some reason, the DSTV app is seen as inactive when streaming, so it goes to Day Dream mode.

The max you can set it to is 1 hour though, so if you watch longer then an hour, better press a button every now and then.

I have the same issue... Thanks will try this as well.

I am interested in getting a Mi Box. I mainly use Plex.

How is the plex experience on this little box?

Is there a version of dstv now that works on older versions of android? 4.1 I think. Power is out so can't check. Mibox 1/2 I think.

From what I've read Plex on the Mi box sucks, the solution is to use Kodi with the Plex add on.

This is only available to paid users right?

Yes, Plex Pass only.

I don't think it's a issue with the Mi Box, it's a issue with the Android TV Plex app, which is different from the normal Android app and Plex don't seem to want to fix it, it looks to be mostly DTS and AC3 issues.

I've read that the unofficial PlexKodiConnect add on also works.

I need help please. I have a Mygica ATV582 and seems to be locked down or something. I can get into the recovery screen and that is about it. It keeps boot looping on the KitKat logo. I asked in mygica support and only got a link to a recovery file which I tried and still get the same problem. Anyone able to assist?

Hi, others on here can back me up or disagree with me on this, but as far as I've seen from watching this thread and owning an ATV582, the biggest issue with these boxes is the power supply and/or a dodgy power socket on the back.
If the ATV582 doesn't get exactly the power it wants, it starts to misbehave - random reboots, booting loops, freezing, etc. I'm not at home right now, otherwise I'd post a picture of how mine is currently balanced in the perfect position to put enough tension on the power cable at just the right angle ...
They also sometimes have an issue with overheating if they're placed on a flat surface - there isn't enough airflow over the bottom plate which doubles as the main heatsink.
So, first things to try - make sure it is elevated off the surface, place a little tension on the power cable at an angle so that it makes better contact, as a last resort, replace the power supply.

Good luck ... It's a great little box, hope you get it sorted.

Thanks. Well I have an update. Tried the files as suggested my MyGica and now the box does not switch on. Only light that comes on now is the red one and that is it. So I assume this box is dead...

Hey guys, does anyone have the Xiaomi Mi Box 4K? If so what are your thoughts on it?
It's brilliant. My fav Android box. Only bummer is one USB port but I got a hub so no issues there. Oh and no LAN port although the wifi signal is awesome

howz the 4k capabilities does it lag and stutter or is it smooth just asking because thinking of getting this or the Nvidia shield
With latest firmware smooth. YouTube in 4K etc or file playback from USB is awesome

Might still be recoverable using Amlogic USB Burning tool, a male to male USB cable, and an Amlogic firmware image file.

Problem is that once recovered to the Amlogic image, you need to modify the stock firmware to load over the image you restored. Mygica don't supply a .img file that flashes using this tool, so you need to use a generic S802 image.

When the S802 image is loaded, the MyGica will think it's a different box and will prevent the MyGica update from installing. The way around it is to remove the hardware check on the MyGica firmware file, re-sign it and flash the normal way

If you manage to recover to an S802 firmware, try find a MyGica custom ROM that has the hardware check removed

Instructions if you want to give it a bash

Good luck!
