The Droid TV thread

So just a FYI for anyone else, ordered my box on the 30/05 and its on shipment for tomorrow from Aramex. Total customs came to R260 including the delivery to my door. So total of R1310 for it.

How long did yours take to get into SA?
My brother not knowing that I already bought one from Geekbuying, decided to buy me one last week when he was in NY City from Walmart.
Now I will have two Mi boxes when the other one that's still at Customs gets delivered.

Not to long man, longest wait was them packaging it up and get Aramex to collect.

Ahh you do your via normal SAPO? I went insured and through Aramex.

Got another SAPO parcel with Vape stuff that takes just as long but that's standard practice.

This was my first big purchase from outside SA, and wasn't aware that with SAPO it will take this long to get here. With my small purchases outside it was always about a month to get it, sometimes less.
Just got another notification that it's back from custom now.
How is the Mibox performance running Kodi, DSTV Now App?
Main reason I bought was to run Kodi on it. Could have gotten an Apple TV 4th Gen, but didn't want to struggle with sideloading the Kodi App on it, and didn't want to spend that much on something that doesn't even play 4k.

Is it worthwhile getting this box? My budget is an issue but I have spent hours going through this thread and have seen some mixed opinions regarding support and overheating on previous models. I was given a mygica 520e a year ago which "struggles" a bit now and won't support DSTV Now amongst other things.
I've got the 1gb RAM version and it does what it's supposed to ie effortlessly stream from Kodi. Didn't notice overheating
I guess this one will work even better. Worthwhile getting the wireless mouse and keyboard.

Think I'm suffering a small problem on the MiBox with the SuperSport app. It seems to have loaded however going into say SS2 will not load the video however displays the play button on the left along with all the other channels again on the right. Does a mouse need to be used for this operation or is it simply the wrong version? Have the latest April version installed.

I use a mouse

So I've been casting DSTV to my mi box and a couple of Chromecasts I have scattered around the house. Finding it works better than the app. In fact, it works really really well. Super happy with the update to the DSTV app.

Any recommendations for a air mouse please. Currently leaning towards the Mele F10 pro or mx3 from avsupply.

That's pretty neat too, will give that ago on my side before picking up a Air Mouse.

I am still using slightly older versions is supersport and dstv now. Are the current apps mi-box friendly?

Yeah the DSTV now app casts pretty well to the mi box. Casting on the mi box isn't as bulletproof as on the Chromecast. Nice thing is you don't get the dimming issue

I'm talking about running the app on the mi-box, not casting to it
