The Droid TV thread

I got a client who's OLD media box just fried itself...

suggestions on a local source for a decent Android box. Must have Netflix and Showmax support. Side-loading should be fine, as long as its stable and WORKS!

edit: other than the telkom LIT box. Stock is a problem (and a gamble)

The Mi Box and the links are a couple posts back.
 
You going to get more burnt going the cheap route than going for a more well known brand such as a MiBox that works!
 
Hence I am asking. The only reason I looked at this is because it has the latest version of android. I don't want to be buying a device and be stuck with old software like I am now with my P8.
 
If your worried about “security” then getting an Android TV not Android OS would more than likely be a better route to follow...
 
See the nVida Shield TV is about R2700 on Amazon at the moent, which includes shipping and customs to SA. If you purchase with a controller, it's about R3100.

If you're looking for something that will work with pretty much everything, this is your best bet. Mi Box is your second best bet.

And which shipping method / company? Been waiting for a decent deal on Shield TV - preferably the Pro.

Saw them this morning. Looks alot like the mi box. Wonder if they support Google's wildevine DRM?

Where do you see 2700? I see it at 2480 but it I unfortunately temp out of stock probably due to the $30 discount
