The Droid TV thread

Who needs Kodi. Load of bs if you ask me. More than enough Android apps to satisfy my appetite. With Terrarium being the top dog. Kodi us just not user friendly and all the add ons is just to much pt to navigate through.
Kodi works a treat for my kids to watch their DVDs on. I ripped the iso files to a hard drive for them, now they just select the image and it's go

Well, I use Kodi in conjunction with a couple of things to make my life easier:
1. I use MySQL to track all the series' I watch. (Tell me not only what I watched, but when it is going to be available)...
2. I use SickRage to constantly monitor, download and sort the EP's of the Series' I watch...

The benefits is just too many to mention. BUT, the ability to just sit down and start watching outweighs any 'streaming' facility. I am also not bound to times, and most of the time I get sources way before released...

As Speedster also mentioned, the ability to have a centralized management system is way better than a streaming solution. In my case, it will be the 4th time I will be watching Spongebob, this you can not do with a streaming service. Well, at least not from SA...

ps - If you see the size of my library, you will understand...

* Custom-built Raided Servers with switchover contingency.
* Media not only includes Movies, but Series and Music and Music Videos.
* All media logged into a central (Switchable) database, so searching is almost immediate.
* In excess of 18T HDD Space.

So, for the benefit of this conversation, Kodi is the ONLY way to manage, track and update...

Mobdro/DSTV/Netflix/Showtime/Terrarium/Showmax are not complete or missing OLD stuff. Searching for an item can take very long or just not available.

<never mind>

I agree, but then I have also found the streaming solution can be problematic at times...
Im using terrarium and showbox and they have me covered for now.

If push comes to shove, downloading is not beneath me. Lol

Infact, because of my line speed I still download movies. And watch them at my leisure.

But for series I don't need 1080p so it's all good

Too much for me too understand. But like you say it suits your needs.

Like they say, different strokes for different fokes

Also, those watching on dstv now, are you noticing choppy playback or stuttering/breaking of the picture?

Mine doesn't even work. What APK are you using?
Using both pc and Android.. using the latest APK from the play store... but on pc, i only get audio and no picture with Chrome.

On my media player it works, but its so choppy the playback

I also get the below

Checked some sport last night and everything works 100%. Watching HL of the cobra/WRS and it works 100% through Chrome.

I know there was an update for Chrome over the last couple opf days, check if you can upgrade...

Hey Guys, hoping for some advise. I took the plunge and ordered via Amazon.com the Nvidia Shield TV.
For those that have ordered, I selected the first shipping option which quoted around 20 days to deliver. Does anyone know once this thing lands in SA, is it then delivered via courier to my address or would it go via normal post office? When I checked out , the price paid included shipping and import fees.

Thanks!

Right to your door bud, no extra costs at all after your payment to Amazon that’s the beauty of it. Plus side is that cheaper shipping option is usually the identical time that the expensive one takes too.
