The Droid TV thread

Anyone here got the Oreo update for the Shield yet? Seems they've redesigned the home page, I can finally get rid of that bloody recommendation bar!

People hate the new interface, going as far as trying to block services to the update doesn't come through.

I've read the geforce forum thread, not advisable BTW, seems like a bunch of whining with very few actual issues. The few genuine complaints won't affect me so I'm not bothered.

Update ditches the recommendations bar and the replacement "channels" can all be removed from the home screen so I'm happy.

Reading that thread, again this is not a good idea if you value your sanity, it may take a while to roll out so we're going to have to be patient.

Is the Mi Box and TV volume set to max? Which app are you using to test the volume?
Are you using a remote? I've had an instance where someone pressed the minus key on the keyboard and it reduced the volume on the box. Note: not the volume down button, but the minus button.

Hey guys, just wanted to find out if anyone is using the MyGica ATV495Max?

It's running Android TV (similar to the Mi Box and Telkom's Lit Box) and the specs seems decent. Pricing is around R1 600.

Looking to replace my 1st Gen Amazon Fire TV. Already have a Mi Box, just not a fan of the WiFi only, but that's fine for downstairs. Would prefer an actual ethernet port for upstairs as it's right next to the NAS.

To remove the wifi only problem on the MiBox:

Works a treat.

The mygica still runs on the old Amlogic S905x chip that goes into the cheap MXQ Pro boxes.

Check out the T95Z plus. Currently the best bang for buck droid player at the moment.

It seems to have the same problem as the Lit Box, Not Netflix certified. There's nothing on their website or packaging promoting Netflix.
It's only Google Certified.

HTPC is so 2009. Android boxes are the in thing now.

:p

I actually tested some android devices and my smart tv and none of them could do HEVC/H.265 10bit decoding smoothly and some of them could not even do 4k youtube, even thought it said it could, so I got rid of them all and built a nice HTPC that can do anything I through at it. :)
