The Elder Scrolls : Oblivion 20th March

Exactly...i really dont wanna wait or see if it is Good or Bad...I want it in on the 20th :p

some news on specificaly optimized Nvidia 84.25 drivers TBA for Oblivion. Read the scoop here.

"Our developer relations team worked closely with Bethesda to optimize game performance, which also included making some driver changes to fix/enhance performance in certain areas.

Our performance testing shows no two benchmark runs are identical in exterior scenes, due to Oblivion randomly placing grass and rocks, changing the amount of grass, and varying other aspects of the terrain."

Upgrade time to the 7900GT perhaps?

What you guys think of this:

3.2ghz intel p4
2gigs ram
Radeon 9800XT

Think it will run well?

I am gonna have to order it via states somewhere and have it shipped ASAP :D

I reckon specs will be fine....I dunno how customisable the Gfix options will be though....Kinda worried my 6800 GS XFX Wont cut it :(

I sure as hell hope it runs smooth on my 6600GT, not like morrowind, wich sucked up and abused every little drop of system resources and then some.

i think the best bet to have it run smoothly is to get it on the X360... reviews of the X360 version are starting to flood the net and nothing is below 9/10 thus far.

It is just a shame that a 360 has to be so expensive. A 360 and the game will cost about R4000.

BTW is the 360 available in SA yet?

R4000 for the Xbox AND Oblivion is not bad. Considering that a top of the range X1800XT goes for more than that you are getting a good deal for that money. ;)

The X360 is available through various sources as you will see in the thread under GAMING, but i am just waiting for Animeworx to officially stock it as they are a reliable source to obtain it from.

Well gonna be ordering via cdromshop.com and DHL collectors...ouch :(

edit : 101USD$ For 2 day shipping, collectors.

is there a review of this game with frame rates etc already? ... not someone just saying "ooh its nice" ... really need to knw if i can run this game maxed out ...

As sugested by some I did infact order a xbox360 purely on the ratio that its cheaper and higher detail to just get the 360 with the game than it is too upgrade my pc too inferior performance :P

Adamr looking at your sig i am sure Oblivion will run maxed no problems at all....Especially if the review made by some magazines were on a X1800 P3.2 and 2 gigs ram were at maxed (Said it ran smoothly)

The devs have all said to run totally maxed you need a monster.

Currently on 3700+ 64, 1 gig ram, 80 Sata, 6800 GS XXX....Fear etc run maxed really well....Hope Oblivion does too.

Edit: On an Interview the devs were asked how many monsters will it take to slow down in combat and they said around 10 at once....however the max you will encounter at once will be 6

Well my radeon 9800XT was a monster when it came out, it was the card they used to promote HL2 at E3 :D

9800 XT is still a sweet card :D
I got mine still and not sold it.

I imagine Oblivion will run fine on 9800XT

cool ;) insecurity aint a good thing ... always that "what if it does not", guess just have to wait to see if the game runs the way i expect it to

Yeah my only problem is ram, my mainboard only supports ddr 400 and i only have 512mb of it.... :(

I think a new mainboard and 2gigs of ram as well as my 9800xt should run it quite well, also got a 3.2ghz p4. So i think im sorted.

Yup! I think also they using the scare factor to cover there a$$'s so you dont turn around and say well it dont work! Hence the high end specs.

Morrowind when it came out at the time was heavy on machines. Everyone got scared too and my Ti4000 *lol R.I.P* Handled it great! Despite what they said about having a 9700 Pro
