It's subjective but more people = more votes, I am waiting for you to prove me wrong on that score :)

I'm not saying more people does not equal more votes. However, we have to exclude those who cannot vote. When we refine it down like that, population growth has nothing to do with it, not so?

Of course it does. Compare the 1980 population to today's population. More is more dammit :D

Just my 2 cents....

Population growth does play a role as each year xx people are born and each year [or 18 years later] those people will turn 18 and become eligible to vote. There will however also be less people as people go push daisies. The difference between those two groups each year will result in either more or less people eligible to vote.

If there is zero population growth it would mean that your voter numbers will decline as people head for the daisy field so population growth do play a role in voter numbers. To what extent will depend on the birth/death rates each year.

so I just had a chat to an educated EFF supporter and he has this to say:

Q Why do the settlements still vote ANC if they don't agree with them?

A : scare tactics, its all about the money. The ANC has agents within the settlements that threaten the population with withholding grants, this applies to single moms as well. This in turn forces the families to vote for the ANC.

Q Tell me about why the Etolls didn't effect Gauteng

A Same as above. The thing about the eTolls is the ANC told Zuma they would note pay for his third or more wives so he has to make a plan. eTolls was his solution, 10% of revenue goes to the wife

Q What will help the DA

Mbeki, simple as that, Zuma is scared of Mbeki. Zuma cant speak English well, but can think quickly, Mbeki is educated and understands politics and finances better than Zuma.

So basically, take it any way you want, but for me, its all the money. Its a deep situation within the settlements and the DA will have to wise up to this and somehow manage the grant situation if they want to win.

Population growth has nothing to with the outcome, seeing as the families are forced to vote for the ANC to retain their grants.

I wouldn't say the e-tolls didn't affect Gauteng. The ANC lost about 12% to the DA in Gauteng alone. It's probably the hottest contested province in the country now.

Sorry meant how did the eTolls effect the settlements?

Answer, it didn't, its not their problem and they have no problem with the suburbs paying for Zuma's wives

Inflation of all goods. But they wouldn't know the real reason price is increasing. They will just strike and burn things for higher salaries.

Its called buyers remorse and its aint going to change a thing, not until the grants and money is sorted.

ITS ALL ABOUT THE MONEY. from the poor old granny that needs her R500 a month to the single mom that needs the R250 a month, the ANC keeps them very close and scared.

Political change seams to be out of the question, so get rich and stay here, or get out ;)

I reckon one reason so many people here in the EC voted ANC is because them, their aunties, uncles, mothers, fathers, brothers, sisters, grannys, grandpas are hired by the ANC and have a direct interest in seeing the ANC re-elected (to keep their jobs). Don't understimate the ANC's shrewd planning in having a massive public service albeit inefficient.
