You guys really need to stop with this lie. They have seats in parliament so it is not wasted. A coalition of opposition parties are better then two huge parties imo.

What on earth do you mean about "you guys" and what lie? They were MY votes. I felt they were wasted. I wanted to vote for a strong, viable opposition. None of them are. They all let me down. Rather dont call people liars when you dont understand their view or you look silly.

PS, Im still waiting for a response to the question I asked you earlier.

I want a small government that provides only the basic services like policing and transport infrastructure. I want most things deregulated and privatised. The Da won't be a step in this direction. You know what I changed my mind. I'm not voting for anyone.

A vote for no-one is a vote for the ANC.

You guys are the people in this thread. This manta is repeated all the time, not just by you.

I guess you dont want to hear opinions you dont like. My opinion is 100% valid. Still waiting for an answer. I swear, getting an answer out of you is like trying to get an answer out of ANC council :D They also dont like answering direct questions.

Repost it then, there's ten pages here already.

BWAAHAHAHAHA

False. A vote for no one is a vote for no one. If i want to vote for the ANC, i cannot simply NOT vote and hope they'll win :)

I'm voting for Holimisa since he hasn't aged a day. Also his poster on the N1N by the N17 is very large

Simple really. A lot of the posters are suggesting that you might as well not vote if you decide to vote for a small party. biometrics has correctly pointed out that this is patently not true, because those small parties still have seats in parliament (if they get enough votes) and they still have a say when it comes to the day to day running of the country. They more often than not side with the opposition.

Your reason for not voting for a small party, does not correspond with the reasons mentioned above so that exempts you from it, but only you and others that feel like you. The argument of the people mentioned above is however not the same as yours.

A vote for no-one maintains the status-quo which in our current position is approval of the ANC.

A vote for no-one maintains the status-quo which in our current position is approval of the ANC.

That's based on the assumption that people who don't vote would have voted for opposition. Quick example:

100 people in a ward - 50 ANC voters, 45 DA voters, 5 other parties

On election day everyone votes except 10 ANC voters, so now the DA has the ward. How did non-voting help the ANC?

The only way to bring about meaningful change is to vote for the largest opposition party, in this case the DA.

Every vote spoilt is automatically a vote for the government, as it takes away from the potential to show the government that the people are tired of their corruption, inability to curb violent crimes, empty promises, looting the state coffers, bleeding the people dry and inability to govern as they should.

Parties like the FF+ are worthless, as they yearn for days long gone to never return.
The ACDP, Agang and others are also minorities, that have a little bark but no effective bite.

The EFF is a militant gang parading as a political party, that will in all likelihood add their votes to those of the governing party as soon as they are promised the sun and moon again. Perhaps their leader will receive immunity from further prosecution.

Think with your head, not your heart, and vote to bring about change.

This.

It depends if the people have voted before, or if they have just always been to lazy to vote (I fully support making voting compulsory). If you have voted for the ANC before as per your example, and you now abstain then it clearly means that you are unhappy with the ANC. You should then vote for another party which can compete with the ANC rather than abstain.

Nationwide, if 5 million people don't vote and the ANC get 10 million voters and the DA 5 million. That's the difference between an outright majority and a massive battle in parliament (which can only be good for the public).

You've been in SA for years. I assumed that you were a citizen by now.

That was never my intention. I've been a permanent resident for a decade or so and that's more than enough for me. :)
