Read an article about this. That's based on the assumption that people who don't vote would have voted for opposition. Quick example:
100 people in a ward - 50 ANC voters, 45 DA voters, 5 other parties
On election day everyone votes except 10 ANC voters, so now the DA has the ward. How did non-voting help the ANC?

False. A vote for no one is a vote for no one. If i want to vote for the ANC, i cannot simply NOT vote and hope they'll win![]()

The DA no longer have my vote or my support.
None of the other parties are doing anything I approve of.

If they put someone competent in place of Zuma I may vote ANC.
AstroTurf said:Other than that, anything but the DA.
Why? Zuma is a symptom, not the problem. He rose to the top of the ANC and still enjoys their support. It's the party that's the problem, not Zuma.
disagree
Zuma is a PRODUCT.
ANC is the CAUSE.
That's what he said?
Simple really. A lot of the posters are suggesting that you might as well not vote if you decide to vote for a small party. biometrics has correctly pointed out that this is patently not true, because those small parties still have seats in parliament (if they get enough votes) and they still have a say when it comes to the day to day running of the country. They more often than not side with the opposition.
Your reason for not voting for a small party, does not correspond with the reasons mentioned above so that exempts you from it, but only you and others that feel like you. The argument of the people mentioned above is however not the same as yours.
My fave election slogan:
No matter who you vote for the government still gets in.
You are totally wrong. Even on abortion issues, where the ACDP should have a very clear mandate on what they should be voting... they prefer to abstain rather than go against an ANC vote. Which province are you in that the ACDP does not vote ANC, because here in the EC they are almost the same thing. If you would like the phone number of a member of parliament to confirm this I will be happy to provide it. Just PM me.Nonsense. They almost always vote the opposite way. Even when the DA votes with the ANC, the ACDP typically votes the other way. And you know it.
Those are made up numbers.
Last election ANC was around 60% and DA 15%. By not voting for the opposition you aren't doing anything to stop the ANC majority. AKA helping them.
Most of the people here who have said they're not voting wouldn't have voted ANC anyway, so in effect it does strengthen them, as per this post.
Repost it then, there's ten pages here already.
Same question as to R13... Which policies specifically?
Liquor law would be one. And don't tell me it's been changed as on the ground it has not, for whatever reason - red tape my guess.
