The Electronic Music Thread

I'm listening to all my Boards of Canada CDs again. I'm rabid for anything similar. anyone got a few suggestions? I tried bibio - do not want. tycho seems like a very bad rip off. i guess i'm looking for something with the same sad nostalgic goodness.

zeridine,
I am a big fan of Boards of Canada, in my collection of music stuff thats of a similar feel to BoC is, 'Future Sound of London' and 'Secede'.

some good 'FSOL' albums:
'dead cities'
'life forms'
'ISDN'
'Environments 2'

and the album 'Tryshasla' by 'Secede' is simply a masterpiece.

Welcome linchpin. :)

FSOL were one of my biggest influences to getting deeper into electronic music. I must give them a whirl again.

Thanks PostmanPot , good to know theres guys around here, with a similar taste in music to me , all my friends think the music i listen to is weird :)

Yeah the most amzing thing about FSOL is how ahead of their time they were. Most of their releases were between 1990 - 1995 and nearly all of of their tracks, match the quality, or are of even better quality than the electronic music of today.

BTW, PostmanPot, their album 'Environments 2' was released last year :) . The first FSOL release under the FSOL name after 10 years.
They went offcourse for a bit with Gary cobain being diagnosed with a serious case of mercury posining that he got from old teeth fillings in his mouth , can you believe it!. Then returned in early 2000's as Amorphous Androgynous trying out more acoustic forms of music. They have now gone back to their FSOL roots saying they feel the time is right to go back and explore the depths in that form of music where they began.

I heard SA has a huge psytrance scene. I'm not into psytrance myself, just progressive, uplifting, tech and melodic trance.

I also heard that is rising pretty fast too.
What about House? I do love my house. :)

Nice one, thanks.

New Efterklang also out if that's what you're into.

burial's untrue LP is awesome. most of it supposedly is sampled from ps2 games, or so i have heard.

Burial is just amazing, some of the best emotive electronic ambient music ever. Must be quite a deep oke. :p Luckily I have found a couple of decent Burial clones, especially Falty DL. Been listening to quite a bit of dubstep lately. Pity more of it isn't like the Burial kind.

I have one song, Archangel, it's VERY good. I want MOAR.

Pleq - Maus

Pleq - Don't Cry My Dear

Just love this guy from Poland. Don't Cry My Dear is my favourite. Maus is a bit of a fun track. Emotive melodies. Both very warm IMO.

Access to Arasaka - Parisville

Quite a bit harder, but so well produced IMO and full of trippy hypnotic sounds.

What I would call a cute track. Makes me think of my childhood etc.

Opiate - Monday Nightcap

Opiate - Hubble at Hobby Industries

This guy does great minimalish ambient IDM with lots of fun and warm sounds.

Although a lot of his work is dark, this track is very happy and upbeatish.

Even some Blank & Jones type stuff, rather pleasant.

Sounds super good.

Anyone know this song I have heard a few times on Vh1 it's just come onto the charts. It has like a funny tune in it which I have forgotten now, it sounds kinda oriental?

Not sure. But this is sick. :)
